I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installed on a WD 500GB velociraptor. The WD drive has MBR partitions, one of which is the OS drive C:\

I'm thinking of buying a 4tb internal storage drive. I assume it must have GPT partitions.

Will I be able to keep my system drive on it's MBR partitions, and still be able to use a 4TB drive with GPT partitions?

In other words..if I download a program on my C:\ drive (MBR) will I be able to store that file on the 4TB GPT drive.

Also, if I have a movie stored on the 4TB GPT drive will I be able to use VLC media player installed on the MBR system drive to view it?

Its just another internal drive. I have four internal drives.. Not Including the 250GB SSD Boot Drive. Two 1TB and Two 500GB drives. Plus an external housing with one 1TB drive three 500GB drive replacements sitting on the shelf. NOTE: "I get my drivers for free from garage sales "FOR FREE!" I "0" Meaning Zero the drive and test them for integrity. If they are good I put them on the shelf" I have one 500GB for OS Imaging. "Don't overlook this! Very important!" I do this biweekly. The rest are just waiting to be filled with DATA! By That I Mean Backup..

Well that's all for my banter. Most Likely not on spot. But you can move data to the internal drive and most likely access the GPT.

In other words..if I download a program on my C:\ drive (MBR) will I be able to store that file on the 4TB GPT drive.

Thx, but Lady Fitzgerald already answered my question. It concerned a single 4TB drive, not a whole bunch of drives.
As for backups...you made a good point that everyone should follow.

I've been using backup software since 2003. My favorite was Ghost 2003. Simple and did the job.
Now I use Acronis.

I also checked out AOMEI Backupper recently... it's simple and does the job...no frills. It's also free.
