MCE does not start after upgrade to windows &

I upgraded my windows vista SP1 with windows 7 beta. It works great but windows media center will not start. When I click I get the cool windows media center logo fading in and out but then a blank screen. When I move my mouse it looks a grey version of a back arrow and windows logo is in the upper left and the standard in color minimize restore and close buttons are there but when clicking on them you get the media center sound but nothing happens. I'm assuming it's trying to set up but hangs. The only way to close it is to hit the windows logo start button on the keyoard which shows the taskbar on the bottom, right click and start task manager and then clicking end task in task manager. MCE worked normally in Vista SP1. Video card is a new NVIDIA GeForce GT 9400 with a pre-release driver installed. All windows 7 updates installed and re-installed. Sound card is aCreative SB Audigy 2ZS. The sound card does have a game port which did not work in vista or win7. Any one have this problem.

While I haven't had this specific problem, I've had my share of troubles with MC7. What worked best for me was to perform a clean fresh install off the Win7 DVD - not an upgrade. After updates and a few other installations, I set the virus scanner to ignore the RecordedTV Library. This made MC7 very responsive. I had also had other issues with setting up the HDHomeRun dual-QAM tuner that contributed to instability and a black screen for MC7. This cleared up with the HDHR beta driver set and the virus scanner exclusion mentioned.

Thanks. I did try a clean install on a different computer and MC 7 works normally. What are the file extensions for those files you set to ignore on your virus scan. My virus scan only takes file extentions for exclusions.

All recorded TV in MC7 is xxxx.wtv.
