I am using the 7100 RC x64 and all was appearing great, however i am having a problem with its memory usage. After boot and in normal use it seemed fine, however i noticed first when i copied a 3gig file that the memory usage filled up along with it as it transferred but after the copy was complete the memory stayed full and as i type this now have 60mb free and it will stay like that until i reboot. I rinsed and repeated and tried the same with an install involving large data files and again as it installed the memory filled up and after install completed the memory is all still in use (4gb btw). I looked on the internet and i cant see anything other than people saying how good its memory management is.

Additionally i am also seeing one of my cores at 90% (Duo). I have run malicious software tools and avast system scan and i have no idea where to go with this.

Prior to this i was running vista x64 with no problems at all, can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks
Lex

Have you tried reinstalling? sometimes things just don't go right on an install and odd behaviour will result. If you reinstall and it behaves the same everytime then i would begin the long hunt of tracking down the problem.

Thanks for your reply, I did a reinstall of 7 and all was going well again, then it started again! But as i kept track on everything i installed etc as it went i was able to narrow it down and have found that the problem came from installing an image mounted in PowerISO (any image but specifically a DVD sized one).
Once the program i was installing was done, i cursed seeing all the memory used, took a breath and thought about it then unmounted the image. All the memory usage went down to about 750mb which was great. So thanks for pointing me the right way and inspiring the resolve.

Which leads me to ask..is there a working alternative to PowerISO that we know is fully compatible with 7, the former does work and i am working around by unmounting after use but longer term something that doesnt do this would be ideal?

Many Thanks again!
