Missing Bootmgr and can't get into BIOS to change Boot order

Hello,
I have a Lenovo laptop that is about 4 years old. It was working fine earlier today but when I picked it up to turn it on it was powered down and the message came up saying BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I tried to restart and enter the bios to change the boot order so I could boot from my windows 7 usb to repair the problem with the command prompt but it would not let me into the BIOS. I tried burning a windows 7 Disc to try that but again it won't boot from the cd/dvd either. I know how to fix the problem but I cannot access the bios to change the settings. What could that problem be caused by? Is the mother board gone? I have seen other posts similar to this but everyone seems to pay attention to the windows part and not answer why they can't access the BIOS. I have tried all the keys, F2, F8, F12, F10, ESC, Del. Normally the F2 key works for entering the bios and the F12 is for changing the boot order on my machine. Please help with this BIOS problem and ignore the Windows BOOTMGR problem.

Thank you

Can you remove the Hard Drive and try to boot up with no Hard Drive ?
That might force a change that will allow you to access BIOS.

Was finally able to access the bios by removing the battery and holding down the power for a bit to release all residual charge. when I rebooted it allowed access to BIOS. I will keep you updated to see if it will allow me to fix the other problem. Thank you for your help guys.

I think it was caused by windows updates. When it finally booted back up it had to configure new updates. This is just my opinion though.

Possible. Install the Updates singly to find out which one is the problem, then System Restore to before it and post it back to our Updates forum or open a email Support case with MS Updates.

I'd always have your HD set first to boot, then use the BIOS One-Time Boot Menu key to trigger media.

On Lenovo if you have the One-Key Recovery button next to the Power button this will also access BIOS and it's Boot menu.
