I was running my XP Media Center keyboard with the usb receiver flawlessly with Vista. It has been acting a bit flaky since installing Windows 7 x64.

Symptoms with Win 7 x64-
  • My HTPC case has a built-in IR receiver for MC and everything seems to work OK through it. Keyboard and remote. Problem is where the case is located inside a cabinet.
  • If I disable the HTPC case built in IR receiver so only the USB receiver gets a signal the remote control still works flawlessly, but the keyboard is flaky
  • Keyboard cursor movement is the biggest issue. Jagged, choppy, start, stop movement as if it is not getting a signal consistently, however you can plainly see that it is. There is a red led on the usb receiver that lights up fine saying it has a signal.
  • Again, performance was fine with Vista. Change occurred when switching to 7 x64.
Seems like it may be a usb driver issue, but MS site shows no additional software is needed.
Can someone here help?

Go to device manager, look for the keyboard. If there is a problem with the driver you will see a yellow warning.

Nope. No issues listed in device manager. Interesting thing, there was two entries for ehome receiver (remote receiver); one for the one built in to my htpc case and one for the USB add-on I put on. Both are using the exact same driver.

The one on the case works all the time, but cannot receive IR signals inside a cabinet. Maybe the other USB IR receiver is faulty. I have another I can swap out.

Thanks for the help.
