I keep trying to install "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7 x64-based Systems (KB982670)" Only to get Error code 643.
I have attempted to install in safe boot mode but that did not work either.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Hi- I don't know why you're trying to install such an old version of the .net framework but, it sounds to me like your copy of Win 7 isn't up to date. Do you have SP1 and subsequent updates installed?

Wither 2, we meet again. :p
I'm installing it is because i recently reinstalled windows 7.
Yes, I do have service pack 1 installed, (but i'm not sure what you mean by subsequent updates)

After you installed SP1, did you run the check for updates from the Windows Updates? They should automatically include .net framework updates.

Yup, done that. All it's showing me is .NET framework 4.

If it's 4.0, I would download and install v4.5.2. from here- Microsoft Update Catalog

Use the one for x64.

Run the check for updates after installing it.

I found this elsewhere and changed it for clarity-

1) Run Services.msc

2) Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update.

3) Open Windows Explorer.

4) Delete the contents of c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.

5) Run the 4.5.2 installation file again.

Does this help?

I've had a nightmare with dotnet just rollback rollback rollback, whether I want to install or uninstall.

Here is what I've done (it might break things);

Found NetFramework folder
"Take Ownership"
Deleted it
Installed the latest .Net
