Hi,

I cannot seem to get the etherent port to work on my new Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard, it will not connect with etherent cable at all altough there is a flashing orange light when i insert a cable. I have installed all the drivers from the disc, but on the driver propertise it says 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'

Things i have tried:
- Wiping hard drive and doing a reinstall of windows and reinstalling drivers.
- Uninstalling disc drivers and installing ones from the Asus website.
- Connecting with Wifi and scanning for updating drivers but just get this:
'The best driver software for your device is already installed'
'Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.
Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection'

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

If you've re-installed Windows and your Ethernet connection still didn't work, there might be something wrong with the integrated Ethernet adapter. Ethernet adapters are now very reasonable, I'd consider buying a Network Card.

Hi, thanks for your responce. Will the network card with an etherent port work the same as the motherboard one with its own drivers and will it be the same speed rate? Thanks.

I'd suggest a 1gb NIC same as your Intel's if your router has gig ports as well.
This one should work. More selections for you here.

Hi,

I know the problem has been resolved and I am glad the user is happy.

I just wanted to add here:

Since its a new board I would personally recommend sending it back under warranty.
Reason is if a part on the board goes bad, others are likely to follow. (Especially when it comes to ports.)
I would replace it under warranty.

A board with something wrong from the start is very likely for other things to fail quickly.

If its a limited edition board or something, or you don't want to go through the trouble then that's your decision.
