I've got a weird problem.
Since a couple of days at startup the network connection fails.
If I open Network center and analyse the problem automatic it's being solved.
But the next startup the same problem appears.
It's something odd about the driver?
I Downloaded the Intel utility which traces and updates the drivers.
However no real solution.

The report says
The IP-protocolstack can't automatic be bound to the network adapter. (translated)

hopefully others will chime in cuz this could be a lot of things, but here are three things to try:

start > run > appwiz.cpl > enter
then sort by date from newest to oldest, and uninstall/remove anything recent you're not sure you want

also try

start > run > msconfig > enter
go to startup and uncheck anything you don't want. If you are not sure, keep it.

also try
start > run > ncpa.cpl > enter
then right click > properties of the network adapter you are using, and uncheck anything other than the following, at least for now..

Client for Microsoft Networks
QoS packet scheduler
File and Printer Sharing
Internet Protocol v6
Internet Protocal v4
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O driver
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Reminder

you can also uncheck Internet Protocol v6 to see if it makes a difference

also try a virus scan

The problem appeared after a mayor update of office and windows.
During months updates wouldn't work, so it was quite a list.
I backup before I start searching or installing updates just in case.
So I think I try the pre-backup to see if it has something odd to do with the problem.
Internet protocol v6 was already unchecked, no difference.
I removed Tap windows which also was checked in the adapter options.
Are there updates related or known to cause trouble on this subject?
Talking over about a months ago I only installed some Flashplayer and Cyberfox updates.
Could try to uncheck any non necessary startups, however they never gave trouble.

I tried in CMD mode

No cure.

What is wired auto-configuration in start up services? It's indicated as stopped?

Thanks for your help I try your tips.

Hi Torchwood
I have downloaded the latest Realtek driver (hope so) but it didn't solve the problem.

After restoring a backup previous to the Windows updates the PC started Ok with the network adapter.
It's to early to tell, but It may have been related to Driver booster who updated the network-driver shortly after the Windows update. It popped up after the restore, but I turned it down this time.
Time will tell if it's solved?

The network adapter is still OK after a couple of days.
Now I will try to do the Windows updates again.
Tried "doubledriver" backup to safe the current driver.

Again the same problem.
When I opened the device manager everything of the controller was marked with a warning.
The problem analyzer couldn't repair the case. Hardware.
I returned again to the pre-update backup and the adapter is working.
So It's still unclear what happened.

Does any of the Windows 7 Updates include a Network adapter driver?

Your Windows 7 updates could be installing the wrong driver for your system.

Yes that's what I'm thinking about.
It's quite a task to find out which one is causing the trouble.
I should one by one try the updates and restart several times. But it's unclear in which order cause they me be related.
I downloaded the driver from the factory but that was no solution.
If it fails all indications of the network adapter in devicemanager show the yellow warning, also the Windows Tap driver.
So the updates are screwing up something. It's difficult to find the proper driver.
Tried a separate PCI LAN board but since these are almost obsolete it didn't work because the driver was missing for W7.
Best would be to hide most updates and try some with a backup.

Again the Network adapter dropped out at startup.
I stepped back in device manager and installed the previous driver, which instantly activated the adapter.
So it must be a driver issue.
I than removed the installed network driver entirely.
Found an all in one packet of Realtek. That worked for the netwerkadapter.
Now see if my backup including the Windows updates can also be restored with the installation package of Realtek.

It may have been related to Driver booster who updated the network-driver shortly after the Windows update.

Uninstall Driver Booster and avoid this type of driver software. They create more problems than they fix.

After installing the all in one driverpackage from Realtek it seems finally solved.
Now including the previous installed Windowsupdates.
Windows seems to install the wrong type of driver.

hows it going Bernardus?
hmm.. I didn't see your latest post when I made this one.. anyway..

I have a Realtek Gigabit NIC as well, though I am thankfully not having any problems.

I keep the main Realtek NIC driver page bookmarked...
Your link above is good too since it lists previous driver versions too in case the latest driver is buggy. ;) lol

Still running fine Melchior.
The odd thing was that a new driver sometimes worked once and after restart no connection.
I don't know what windows will do if there is no previous driver or a wrong one, or if the file has changed, since it's somewhere in it's hidden system. Anyway, it's Ok now and it's to much work to find out which specific Windows update in the list caused the trouble. Had some 25 of Windows alone (plus an endless list of Office.)
There are numerous complaints about this case on the net. Networkcard Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

Here is another site from Realtek with drivers.

Mr Whoopee, your also right about that. I removed Driverbooster since it indeed also installed the wrong driver.

Thanks for support.
