"New Folder" problem; Unable to create from clicking this on toolbar

For reasons unknown, when I click "New Folder" on the toolbar (via WIndows Explorer or any window where this appears on the Toolbar/Command bar) nothing happens. I'm unable to create a new folder in the window that's open. Doesn't matter where I try this, it's not working.

I'm logged in with my regular User profile, which has Admin privileges. Can you help?

(It isn't that the "New Folder" words don't appear on the toolbar ... it's just that it doesn't work to create a new folder in the window.) I can see other files in the folder, as well as other previous folders, but I can't create any new folders where I'd like them. I've looked in the Folder Options, and everything looks fine.

HELP Please?

Hey Shawn,

Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "click on an empty area in the folder". If there were a folder to click on, I'd not be writing. Please tell me specifically where you mean for me to click on, and I'll get back to you with a reply a bit later. Thanks!

BTW: In the context menu, the "Folder" icon/text doesn't appear. I can see Bitmap, Contact, Journal, Text, Briefcase, etc., but above these items, there is no Folder (or Shortcut) icons if this helps explain. There IS, however, the "New Folder" text appearing on the toolbar itself (but clicking it no longer creates a new folder, as one would expect). Thanks.

That would to "right click" on an empty area in an opened folder (Windows Explorer) to see it's context menu, then click on New -> Folder.

What I posted above should restore the "Folder" option in the New context menu. :)

From Brink:
Hello wildfire, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Are you able to right click on an empty area in the folder and click on New -> Folder to create one?

For now, you might see if using step 5 in the tutorial below to restore New Folder and it's default registry entries may help.
New Context Menu - Remove & Restore Default Menu Items
Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks for trying. When I right click on an empty space in the navigation pane, I don't see any "new folder" option. All I see when right clicking is "Show all Folders" and "Expand to current folder". That's it. When I chose "Expand to current folder", the context menu looks the same as it always does. Among the choices, listed under "new" is only the word "Briefcase". I no longer see "new folder" as an option anywhere. I DO see New Folder when looking on the toolbar of a window, but clicking it does nothing. I no longer get a new folder created when I click on the New Folder text that appears on most Window Toolbars.

Can you help??

Wildfire,

You will need to right click on either an empty space in an opened folder (not navigation pane), a folder, or a drive to see the "New" context menu item instead.

Right clicking on an empty space in the navigation pane only gives you navigation pane options, and never the "New" context menu item.
