since a recent windows 7 update when i power up my pc the keyboard and mouse are undetected so i cant get past the password screen. i thought a system restore is the solution but i cant get into bios either as i need to select that with the keyboard.

keyboard and mouse are usb.
ive tried all usb ports.

what do i do ???
all ideas, help appreciated as im totally confused about how to tackle this

ive been told by one person to try a keyboard with ps2 connection, i dont know anybody with 1
there must be another route i can take?
i dont even know what update has done this?

Reset your BIOS and then try restarting the computer. If USB support is a default value then it should boot, if not then you will need a PS/2 keyboard. What puzzles me is that no Windows Update can alter your settings in the machines BIOS - so perhaps it's just a question that your USB ports aren't working...

Solved

thanks i have solved this

got hold of a keyboard with ps2 connection but it didnt work

i ended up reseting the motherboard by removing the battery then after 5 mins replacing booted back up fine after that!

still havent got a clue why it happened but it definitly coincided with a win 7 update
