How on earth are you using Outlook Express on Windows 7. I use Outlook Express 6.0 on my WinXP and it works great but they don't do Outlook Express for Vista/Win7/Win8.

I tried copying the folder over and registering the dll's but when run its says something like Outlook Express is not made for this operating system.

I do have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (I know its old but I hate the newer Office with stupid pictures) on my laptop and that works. I really wish Outlook Express was available.

They recommend Windows Live for emails.

The strange thing is I also have Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 on WinXP but I don't use it. I only use it to import emails and contacts then save them as pst files then copy these over to my laptop.

I have been using win 7 home premium 64 bit for past 2 1/2 years alongwith office 2010, the outlook express opens as windows mail 2011. I am able to send msgs but can not receive them. The error that appears is quoted in the last post. I even tried to download msgs thru outlook 2010 there too was unable to download.

Well you using the wrong terminology Outlook Express isn't Outlook as I've stated.

mahipat,

I might have posted the wrong configuration. I'm not familiar with BSNL - it appears that Sancharnet is a separate service.

According to the information I just found, the servers and eMail address would need to be changed

Know your incoming mail server - I think this is based on your location.

Your New Incoming (POP3) Mail Server will be:
nmma.sancharnet.in
-- or --
nmma.bsnl.in

wmma.sancharnet.in
-- or --
wmma.bsnl.in

smma.sancharnet.in
-- or--
smma.bsnl.in

Know your outgoing mail server

Your New Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server will be:
nmra.sancharnet.in
-- or--
nmra.bsnl.in

smra.sancharnet.in
-- or --
smra.sancharnet.in

I used nmma.bsnl.in in my examples, since that's what you posted in post# 1.
Also note that the SMTP server is different from the POP3 server - staying with the nm locale, I used nmra.bsnl.in for the SMTP server.

The website is a bit confusing due to the localized server names - it is not consistent and uses nm as the POP3 and sm as the SMTP. Of course I could have it all wrong ;)

Email address: Enter your full email address (username@nmma.bsnl.in)

Servers
Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP): nmma.bsnl.in
Outgoing mail (SMTP): nmra.bsnl.in
Make sure My server requires authentication has a check in the box
choose Use same settings as my incoming mail server

Account name: Enter your full email address (username@nmma.bsnl.in)
