Oblivion Keyboard Issues

Oblivion loads on my Windows 7 system, but when I try to use the keyboard it gives me special characters (#,$,!, etc.) or numbers when I am pushing letter keys when I try to enter a character name. Also the standard W,S,A,D keys don't move the character. I tried going into options and setting the keys, but the game will not allow me to assign those keys.

have you updated to the latest version of Oblivion..?
