I produce video so, I tend to use my system to it's fullest most of the time. I began getting the occasional BSOD about 2 months ago. I did what I think are the usual troubleshooting things. Checking for driver updates etc. I found through trial and error that I dont get the BSOD if my external backup harddrive (2 TB Western Digital My Book) is not hooked up. I'm not completely certain if this is the culprit, but that's what seems to be the issue. The drive doesn't have to be in use when this happens.

I've uploaded the BSOD zip file. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hi casanna,

I have had a look at the dumps and noticed something.
The 0x10E(VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL) mentions the Windows DirectX driver as a possible cause, not a problem since this is expected. However, when going a little deeper I noticed the Windows File system, this gave me a red flag.
Code:
VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL (10e)

Probably caused by : dxgmms1.sys ( dxgmms1!VIDMM_GLOBAL::xWaitForAllEngines+262 )

fffff880`04de8c58 fffff880`0125b34a*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for Ntfs.sys
 Ntfs+0xf34a

The minidump can't provide much more information, so I went through the event logs and noticed a lot of issues with your hard drives. Please run the following tests and post back with results.

Thanks so much for your help. I finally got around to performing the tests that you listed above, and my external drive failed horribly. As I had suspected, it was the culprit. I have since replaced the drive and my issues seem to have disappeared. Interesting that the drive still reads and writes.

Not sure what's going on now....the drive that I thought was the culprit is no longer in the system. Here's the latest batch of BSOD info.
Thanks, all.

Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Nvidia. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver, you can use this tutorial to do so :ar: NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems - Windows 7 Help Forums

Okay...I did that. Rebooted and started to do some editing. Went about 15 minutes and it crashed again. Here's the report.
Thanks for helping by the way. :)

Run this command in an admin command prompt, it'll create some files on the desktop. Select the files, copy them to a zip file and upload the zip.
Code:
copy %SystemRoot%\minidump\*.dmp "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\"&dxdiag /t %Temp%\dxdiag.txt&copy %Temp%\dxdiag.txt "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\"&type %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts >> "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\hosts.txt"&systeminfo > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\systeminfo.txt"&driverquery /v > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\drivers.txt" &msinfo32 /nfo "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\msinfo32.nfo"&wevtutil qe System /f:text > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\eventlog.txt"&reg export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\uninstall.txt"&reg export "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components" "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\installed.txt"&net start > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\services.txt"&REM wmic startup list full /format:htable >"%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\startup.html"&wmic STARTUP GET Caption, Command, User >"%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\startup.txt"

Files that are created:
  • *.dmp,
  • dxdiag.txt,
  • hosts.txt,

  • drivers.txt,
  • msinfo32.nfo,

I've cut and pasted the code you've listed above into a cmd prompt run as administrator. These are View attachment 400295all the files that it created. I did see, however, that it said the system cannon find the path specified a=during the process.

 DRIVER VERIFIER

   Warning
Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.

Please follow this tutorial to run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

 RAM TEST

arrow.png
Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 7 Forums

   Note
attachment.php

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

Well, although I know very little about the memtest that i just did, I DO know that what I'm seeing isnt good. I assume I should replace my RAM. I have 8 - 8 GB sticks. From what I understand, Corsair has a lifetime warranty.
