I have MS Office 10 Family Pack x3, so can use on three computers. I just replaced a hard drive on one of them, and am trying to authorize it on the new drive. Got the "you have used up all the authorizations" message. So, I uninstalled it on one of the other machines, thinking that would solve it. But when I tried to authorize, I got the same thing. When I chose the telephone option, it came back saying telephone authorization is no longer supported for that version.

Is there any way to get the three uses out of this copy of Office again? Do I need to call Microsoft? I used their virtual agent, which brought me to an article that dealt with the same problem. The solution was to uninstall, so I did that. But that didn't do it.

Hi michael diemer,

Did you try cloning the drive to the new one in the same computer as it was activated on
Did you try full drive image of the old drive and transferring it to the new drive in the same computer as it was activated on?

I couldn't in this case Bill, as the original drive was too compromised. what if I put the original drive back in and uninstall Office on it? Worth trying?

Solved it by calling Microsoft. Some research told me that this problem should not apply to Office 10, but to later versions, so it is an error. I got the following number from one of the articles I read: 866-421-7141. This is the number for for the USA. The automated process did not work so I asked to be transferred. A very friendly guy asked me for the installation code from the authorization wizard, and then told me to go back to the "activate by internet option," and he then activated it. I must say I was extremely impressed by the service, and gave them a very positive review!

Here is the article from which I got the phone number (you can't get it from the wizard):
