I have added Windows 10 Home to Windows 7 on the same HDD by creating a 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] partition with MiniTool Partition Wizard.
I set up Dual Boot menu with CMD , but only one OS shows on the boot menu, even though the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] OS is on the partition.
Incidentally, I installed the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] OS ( Windows 10) by doing an Acronis recovery from a previous Drive image onto the new partition, but it shouldn't make a difference, once it is duly installed on the partition . .
At first, the previous Windows 7 partition was showing as ACTIVE , while the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] showed as NONE. I subsequently set it as active, too, but I am still unable to get both OS on the Dual Boot menu.
How can I add the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] OS ?

Thanks

Ittiandro

Please select ...Windows 7
OS
Please select ...Windows 7
So you create a new partition and restored Win 10 to it using a image.
"I set up Dual Boot menu with CMD" - How?

On a Legacy-MBR, BIOS transfer the boot sequence to a drive MBR that will transfer to a master boot manager. This master boot manager (like Linux Grub) can transfer the boot sequence to a partition (like Linux) or to another boot manager in another partition (like Windows). It is a serial chain mode.

When you've set Win 10 partition as active, does it boot into Win 10?

Please post a Disk manager image (full window and don't forget to expand the columns so we can read them)

On the bootable Macrium Reflect rescue USB, under 'Restore', is an item: 'Fix Boot Problems' (or something like that). It has always worked for me. I don't know if Acronis has something like that. If not, get the free Macrium Reflect and make a rescue USB. To me it's worth having just for that one feature.

I was finally able to set it up with following command:
bcdboot x:\windows, where ' X' is the other drive, i.e. the drive you are not booted on.
