OS on SSD & the rest on 1T HDD

Hey everyone....im running Win7 home premium on a 120 SSD.
My intent was to use the SSD as the OS drive and put all the other stuff onto a 1T HDD
I wanted to move my user files, temp files, and librarys ( my document, music, pictures etc....)
i managed to manualy moved the library file folders onto the HDD into a new folders that i made and when asked to install something i redirect to the HDD. Not sure if this was the right approach i feel like im setting myself up for some kind offile mix up

Is there a way to simply move all my user files together and have them redirect to my HDD?
or some kind of step by step guide to setting up this particular hard drive config.
so in short i want the main os to run from the ssd and most programs and saves ect to be on my hdd

you want programs on a separate hdd, and not on the 120gb ssd?
tho moving the libraries and making shortcuts would probably be pretty easy...

not all programs just the non essential ones
auto cad & photoshop will be on the ssd

I do the same thing; I keep my OS and a couple of important programs on my SSD, and my USERS directory, as well as all other programs, on my HDD. I used the MKLINK command. You can do a web search to find out about the switches and such, but, in essence, it creates a shortcut on your Primary drive redirecting any queries to your HDD. The mklink /d command creates a "symbolic link." I think this will do what you're asking.

That is the exact setup that I am using...although my SSD is 80GB.

I guess it comes down to how many programs you use...but I would keep everything on the SSD drive with the exception of
1). music libraries
2). Page file
3). Internet downloads and ISOS
4). virtual machines

For me, I've still got well over 50GB free on my SSD with everything that I use loaded. All of the apps and games are installed onto the SSD.

Changes on my box after moving to SSD included
1). redirecting browser caches to my 1TB drive
2). disable superfetch and indexing on my SSD
3). disable the scheduled defrag for C
4). move page file to the 1TB drive.

For Documents, Music, Pictures, etc., right click on the folder (or the right pane entry in Start) > Properties > Location tab > Move.

PS: I keep everything of Win7 on my 80GB SSD. I did, however, make a separate Data Partition, in part because it is safer and also because I share the data with my Vista on the same system. And I currently still have 51GB free space - on a mature system.
