"out of range" monitor message after Win 7 upgrade

Hi all, hope someone out there can be my saviour and come up with a fix for this.

My hard drive on my PC failed so had to buy a new one & at the same time upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, and here comes the problem....my monitor I'm using is also my TV (Bush 27" LCD) and once windows boots up I receive an "out of range" error message on a blank screen. I'm using the same screen as I was when I was running XP but on Win 7 it just doesn't seem to want to play ball. I've received this message before on XP but just needed to change the refresh rate down from 75hz to 60hz which I've done this time round but it hasn't solved the problem, anyone have any advise for me?

I'm using a VGA cable to connect my monitor to my PC (my monitor doesn't have a DVI port, but my PC does). I'm currently using monitor from another PC in the house to use my PC so I know that the video card's working, there must just be some kind of conflict somewhere.

i'm pretty sure that message means your video card is using settings that are too high for your monitor to handle. check the specs for your monitor and adjust your video card settings to match.

I've updated the driver from the nVidia website so have the most up to date drivers and the settings (as far as i can find) are the same as they were in XP when it was working

what are the settings for your video card? (resolution,refresh rate, and color depth).
what is the model number of your monitor?

the monitor/TV I'm using is a Bush LCD27TV005/A.

The current settings are; Refresh rate 60Hz, the resolution is set to 1024 x 768 & I'm using True Color (32bit)

You need to match those to the TVs specs.

Thanks, but do you know which specs need changing because I'm not sure otherwise I would've changed them already

You would have to check your TVs manual, but I would guess the problem lies with either the resolution or refresh rate.

Use the 'Auto Adjust' button on the monitor

Unfortunately there isn't an 'auto adjust' button on the monitor.

I've just researched the monitor I have as I don't have the manual for it & the resolution of the monitor is 1280 x 768 and the refresh rate is 50Hz, but the lowest setting on the video card is 60hz, but when I had it set to 60hz in XP it worked fine. Anyone any advances on ways round this problem? Is there perhaps a way of running the drivers in XP mode or I've seen quite a few people talking about the program PowerStrip, can this program force there is be a lower fresh rate?

You might be able to get it to work by installing the XP drivers in compatibility mode.

right click the installer>properties>compatibility>XP sp3
