"Overclocking failed!" Message at computer startup

If that error is "normal" for ASUS boards, I believe you have talked me out of including them in my next build. And I was really looking forward to some of their offerings. Bummer. :(

OK, then there are Gremlins in all computers. It does not do anything I can find in BIOS. You just get the message and go to bios, save and exit and everything is exactly the same as last time you used it. Mine has never changed even 1 bios setting.

There is just some hardware that will not play nice together. And there are bad motherboards too.
Sometimes I think it would be better if the failure was complete. It is easier to diagnose and fix.

I just want to point out that a blanket statement that "all" Asus motherboards do that is not really true as far as I can see.
If you go to your favorite search engine and type the words "motherboards overclock failed message" and then put Asus in the front you will gets lots of hits. But now put Gigabyte in front: lots of hits. Try MSI, EVGA. It happens a lot on a lot of different brands.

Reading many problem descriptions the most common culprit is the RAM. I saw many solutions that involved reducing the timings, playing with the RAM voltage, turning on XMP, turning off XMP. But it was not just RAM. There seems to always be a component that is "working but not completely", including the motherboard itself. Frustrating as hell I am sure.

Also wanted to point out that the message does not mean that the failure has to be due to any overclocking. The powers that be just assume that a failure must have been due to overclocking. But it really just means "the boot sequence failed".

Mine only does it if the OC fails, the OP hasn`t been back in 2 days. I`m sure he entered the bios and all is fine.

What`s everyone going on about.

The fact that he got the message after he moved it is just a fluke (not the fish) :)

This happened to me today and was immediately after I unseated a Memory stick to get the specs for upgrade and did not securely reseat it. I went to Bios(wasn't given a choice) and exited without doing anything,...didn't know what to do anyway,...grabbed my laptop and got some info here,..restarted my desktop and no problem,...dates and all looked normal in BIOS. No other problems with my Asus P8P67 Deluxe(Rev 3.0).

Edit,...I'm a bit confused as I registered and sent this from my laptop.(ergo the "Vista" OS indicated)
