Partition issues....HELP!!!

It is the yellow folder Boot - just rt click and copy and paste directly onto the C drive.

You will get a message saying bcd is in use - just skip it - the other files in that folder will copy across.

You also need to do the same with bootmgr.

BOOTMGR2009-05-11_182540.jpg

Then use the export command to get bcd into the C:\Boot folder.

BOOTBCD2009-05-11_182959.jpg

Press enter at the end of the command.

Then mark C as Active in Disk Management.

Shutdown - boot the 7 dvd - run Startup repair.

the command is

bcdedit /export D:\Boot\bcd C:\boot\bcd

In your post, you missed out the bcdedit bit - copy and paste the above line from this post into the command window if it helps.

You are asking the program bcdedit.exe to perform this command /export from path\filename D:\Boot\bcd to path\filename C:\Boot\bcd.

It is confusing at first as you are not typing .exe,from,to.

Finally got it!! (After about 10 or so tries) Thanks sooooo much SIW2 and all the people who helped!! You guys will definitely get kudos from me...just tell me how (lol) is there something on your icons that I have to click or something? BTW---what should I do with the unallocated space? Do I make it a simple volume? Any suggestions ?

Hi Davy7RC,

Well done! That's not easy the first time you do it.

If you want to thank someone, click the little grey cauliflower icon - the middle one at top right of their post.

You could just make the 7gb a New simple Volume - it's pretty small though.

You might want to make it a bit bigger. To do that, you would need to shrink the Vista partition - you would then get more unallocated space on the right of the Vista partition from which to make a new simple volume.

Depends how much free space you have on your Vista partition.

Alternatively, you could make your Vista partition a bit bigger - just right click and extend .

Hope it helps
