Solved PC Command Box

I'm not sure of its exact name, but I'm talking about the small black command box I've seen people open up in the bottom left hand corner of the screen in order to type in text commands to the PC. How do I activate the box?

Is this what you are talking about (if you want to open this, go to start and type in cmd and press enter):

Open the start menu. Type cmd into the search box and left click on cmd.exe in the search list.

Too slow in typing again.

If you are talking about opening up the command shell, then:
WIN | type CMD | ENTER

type EXIT and hit ENTER to return

WIN=key with Microsoft logo on top

Some commands must be run with "elevated" privileges.
Here is how to do that:
Go To an Elevated Command Prompt


Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator
WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER keycombo| YES

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

A couple more tidbits:
While in a command shell, type (followed by Enter):
HELP

that will give you list of all commands.

for help on a particular command, here's an example of how:
HELP SHUTDOWN
