Solved PC Rolled Back after updates failures, Errors: 800F0826, 800700B7

Yesterday after shutdown, I pulled the PC's power cord. Today after startup (bad), I made a CBS.zip folder(reduced to fit) and sent to a flash drive so I can access it on a good start. I then ran SFC/SCANNOW and there were no integrity violations. 'C' still shows 483GB although files & folders etc show as empty. On 8th startup, I finally had a good one with everything there as it should be. I will now upload the CBS zipped folder. I named it Bubbles v. (Bubbles for the default wallpaper and v for the Vette avatar). The other profile I created is identified by D for the Dog avatar. 'Dog' profile keeps any changes I make. 'V' does not as it still comes up as a temporary profile.

The Event Log in User Profile shows ID 1511(can't find local profile), ID 1502 can't load locally stored profile (insufficient security or corrupt local profile), ID 1508 unable to load registry, insufficient memory or security rights.

All the update failures from 11/24 on were mostly attributed to either Error 800700b7,800f0826 or 8024200d.

What I just don't understand is what is causing a switch between a good or bad start after those updates. The faulty switch has to be somewhere within the system. There must be a command somewhere telling it what path to take. Finding it is above my pay grade..hope you guys can find it.

Is this still the original HP factory pre-installed Win7, the worst possible install one can have and one which no tech enthusiast would run in the first place?

Yes and no. All or most all the OEM stuff that was packaged with it were deleted by me soon after it was installed. I deleted any antispyware, other antivirus and/or unnecessary programs that I could find as well as 99% of the games. I even deleted languages other than English. I then installed the programs I wanted.

In case of a future disaster, I even downloaded X17-59465.ISO and installed it on a flash drive for 'just in case' scenario down the road. the ei.cfg was addressed also. I also made a Win 7 installation DVD. This was all done following Brink's excellent instructions.

Currently, I'm looking into the possibility of a corrupt user profile causing the bad starts and how to fix it if need be. I have attached a snip of what my user profiles are and I'm trying to understand them and also if there is any corruption there.
PS,I see that the new profile I created the other day has less in it than the other one..

Try creating a new User Account to see if it helps. If so you can gradually copy your files over, reinstall any programs which won't perform for it, then delete the old one once you're sure your ready since there's no hurry.

There is nothing that comes close to a Clean Reinstall which is the best possible install you can have and a specialty of these forums where we've helped tens of thousands of users do one without a single complaint. There's really no amount of clean up of an inferior factory install that can make it perform nearly as well.

Greg, I created the second user account (Dog) the other day as you had suggested. When I switch user from Vette to the new account Dog, it does not start correctly either and says "you have been logged on with a temporary profile, you cannot access files & files created will be deleted when you log off. To fix this, Log off and try logon later". This is the reason I've been looking in to the possibility of the profile(s) being corrupted somehow. The events log show ID 1511 (windows can't find the local profile). ID 1508 (unable to load registry. Insufficient memory or security rights). ID 1502 (can't load locally stored profile. Possible cause insufficient security rights or corrupt local profile).

The new Profile only has 117MB in it while the old one (Vette) has 145GB. Quite a bit to transfer. And even if I transfer (copy to) all 145GB to the new profile what's to say it will boot properly in light of the events log enumerated above?

I am aware of the fact that a clean reinstall may be the best way to go and as mentioned, I have the tools to do so. It would take a few days to do so. Another option may be to do a Windows Easy Transfer (WET) on a new hard drive from PC #1 to PC #2 after installing a brand new drive in #1 as both PC's are 64bit. The major problem is the time it will take to install all of the e-mail identities and contacts (about 80GB) into their proper folders and/or sub files. Or, I have an external bare drive that is a recent Image of #1. I wonder if that would work on the two different processors (one is AMD and the other is Intel). That way I wouldn't have to re-install or update all the programs not to mention all the Microsoft updates. Easy still is if I can find and fix what created this problem. BTW, 199 programs are installed on this PC (#2).

Do you have a Win7 backup image you can restore with the email accounts already loaded?

Look over the fixes in this MS Bulletin: You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon? error message

There are endless problems that arise from factory preinstalled Win7, rarely fully resolved yet always remedied by investing in a perfect Clean Reinstall which is then after setup preserved in an image which can last forever.

Yes, I did a system restore to before those Microsoft updates of 10-9-13 compromised the PC. Maybe I should have gone back further in time. I'll only have two months of stuff to resurrect. Since I sync this website and all FireFox history to both PC's, it will be on my other PC (#1) when I do the restore and will be sync'd back to this one (#2) when this one re-starts and I won't lose this thread on this PC.

Yes, I make an Image of my Win7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit of PC #1 every month after the Microsoft updates and after I update any programs in need of doing so. The Image is made onto a bare 2TB Hard Drive using a StarTech dock. Takes about 6 hours. As an Image, I'm sure all the e-mails and the contacts within are all there. Never had a need (or thought) to check whether they really were there though. Will have to remind myself to do so to be sure. My only concern is that one CPU is AMD (#1) and this one is Intel. Do you think this will be a problem or it doesn't matter as long as they both are Win7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit?

You can't assume an image will start on different hardware, however if you're using Acronis True Image with Universal Restore it can adapt to the change. Another way to do this is Paragon Paragon Adaptive Restore - Overview. After applying the image if it won't start up on different hardware then boot Paragon Adaptive Restore CD freeware to do a P2P Adjust. It may also require a few Startup Repairs to fix the boot files. In rare cases you may be asked to supply the storage controller driver.

What imaging app is taking 6 hours to make an image? Modern apps like Win7 backup imaging, free http://www.sevenforums.com/software/43219-image-your-system-free-macrium.htmlMacrium - Image your system which is most recommended freeware here, Paragon HD Manager free and Acronis take no more than 30 minutes. It seems like you need to streamline your methods, perhaps adopting some of the ones compiled in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 which work best with Win7, starting with replacing the atrocious HP factory preinstall which is the worst in the industry.

I use Easeus image creator. I do it sector by sector. Maybe that's why it takes so long or it's just a crappy program. I will look at the others first chance I get which will be late tomorrow. I have an appointment I must keep in the AM. And I'm getting tired right about now and need some sleep.

I apologize for taking so long to reply back but I had some important business to attend to. Anyway, as Greg had suggested, I created another user account profile. The transfer of info from the old to the new didn't work out well as 61.3 GB of the old info wasn't transferred! I installed all of the new Microsoft updates of 12-10-13 successfully. Those earlier pesky updates from October still failed and I just hid them. I assume that will not present a future problem. The newly created user profile opens correctly albeit without a lot of it's features because of it's failure to transfer all it's contents. The old one is still hit or miss as to whether it will open properly. S0 - since whatever caused those Microsoft updates to screw up my user profile can't be ascertained and with the limited user profile transfer, I'm left with very limited and unpopular options, all of which will take up a lot of my time.

1. Start a completely new clean install of Win 7 64bit SP 1 Home Premium. Re-install all mentioned in #2.
2. Use the Windows WET program to transfer all files, folders, photos etc to the backup PC and then
install all my programs, update all drivers, etc etc etc.
3. Image PC#1 and install that Hard Drive into PC#2 using Acronis Universal Restore as suggested.
4. In either case, a lengthy time consuming process because of faulty Microsoft updates!

Unfortunately, we will have to call this problem 'solved'

Still don't understand why you would come to the top resource anywhere for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 where we can help you get an install better than 95% of them out there, then only move the deck chairs around on the Titanic.

Let us know when you're ready to go from a corrupt old bloated install to the best one on earth. When tens of thousands of users have benefitted from this without a single failure, why do you think you'd be the exception?

I thought that's what I indicated "1. Start a completely new clean install of Win 7 64bit SP 1 Home Premium." #2 would have to be used to transfer all my files, folders and programs etc after the clean install unless I'm missing something here. Is there another way to transfer all of this (besides Ninite which only does some of the programs). Doing a clean install only installs the O/S, No?
