Performing Sysprep Before after backing up an Image?

Hello I'm wondering if I should perform sysprep first, then back up an image on my computer to use another computer with the same specs. Or Backup my image on my comp now , then put the image on the computer then run sysrep.

I plan on gaming and using servers and networking on both of these computers. So sysprep should be to fix any confliction between the SID.

Sysprep is for preparing a OS image for imaging by WDS (Windows Deployment Server) when doing mass image deployments. It is not for single user machines. If by "to use another computer with the same specs" you need an image to image multiple machines, then yes, else no. As a MS Certified Recycler, I often create new install dot wim images on the deployment server by installing from the previous wim, updating, or what ever else I need to add, sysprep with generalize checked, and now I have a new install dot wim for deployment. If you don't sysprep, WDS will not image. The sysprep pass is done automatically when installing windows 7 from the original media during the generalize pass of the install process. You can evoke it with custom settings in an "unattend.xml" file, or once you get the welcome screen with prompts for a user name just hit Ctrl-Shift-F3, and this will reboot you into Audit Systems mode.
