Hello kaleigh. Couple of things you can try.

If the problem has just recently begun you could try rolling back your machine to a date/time prior to the problem first starting with System Restore.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two, this tutorial.) The scan will look for damaged or corrupt system files that could be affecting Windows Explorer. If any problems are found, run the scan 3 times rebooting after each scan.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Microsoft has an article that may help and there are some additional suggestions in another help article. Don't forget to perform your routine maintenance chores like: run a full scan with your anti-virus suite and even run a few more free on-demand scans like Malwarebytes, ESET Online Scanner, etc; run disk cleanup; run check disk; defrag;

Windows Explorer may crash in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

When you previously ran sfc /scannow, did it say it fixed some files or did it say there were no integrity violations? If it fixed some files I'd definitely run it 3 times. Has to do with dependencies. First run may fix files "A", "D" and "E". But "B", "C", "F" and "G" have not been fixed. "B" and "C" needed to wait until "A" was fixed (and computer rebooted.) "F" and "G" needed for "D" and "E" to be fixed (and computer rebooted.)

I'm not knowledgeable enough to decipher the event viewer logs. Sorry. :o

What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?

One other thing you can try is to close Windows Explorer and then re-open a new copy. Sometimes this "refresh" solves Explorer issues.

1. Open Task Manager > click the "Processes" tab.

2. Look for and then click to highlight "explorer.exe" in the list of "Image Names". (NOTE: Do not confuse "explorer.exe" with "iexplore.exe")

3. Click "End Process" at the bottom right.

4. Click "End Process" again in the confirmation window. (The Windows taskbar, Start menu and any open Windows Explorer windows will disappear. This is normal.)

5. Click "File" in the top menu of the Windows Task Manager, and select "New Task (Run...)."

6. Type "explorer" (without the quotes) in the "Run" window, and press "Enter" to restart Explorer. The Windows taskbar and Start menu will reappear in a few seconds.

Not a problem, Kaleigh. It's still fairly early in the Central and Western parts of the U.S. and people are just now waking up. And for a lot of folks in the U.K and Europe it's still mid-afternoon so they've got school and work going on. I'm sure more people will be responding and offering additional suggestions. :)

Have you run the additional SFC scans, too?

Don't give up hope. Sometimes it just takes a while for other Forum members to jump in on a problem. The last link in my first post ( Windows Explorer Randomly Freezes or Restarts ) had several more suggestions. Did you have a chance to go through those, yet?
