I know this must be getting tedious after 7 pages of posts, but hang in there and we'll get this sorted :)

I would preferably like a clean CBS log. Could you reboot, then follow these instructions please:

SFC Scan


  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

no worries at all m8, I am an MCITP with 23 years under belt and I have never seen such a simple problem so utterly refusing to go away before, and I tried everything I could think of other than a format/reinstall. the bad part is I bought this direct from microsoft and they couldn't/wouldn't help me. you guys have been of way more help, so my patience is endless. :)

anyway, it didn't create a clean cbs.txt file, but it's a lot smaller than before...it's attached.

edit: by the way, I have had experiences with techs not doing exactly as I said because they thought they knew better than me. let me assure you that since the beginning I have run all commands and reported what I saw exactly as stated with no interference from me (other than obvious typos and syntax errors).

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

That probably means I will have to remove the Intel Turbo Memory card I have installed.

I was literally typing that my gut feeling now is that has something to do with this.

I don't think you should need to uninstall anything - if the driver isn't appropriate, it shouldn't affect it

Err, now it's saying my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements. I tried both 11.2 and 11.6 (I already knew 11.6 wouldn't work but I tried it anyway). This is why I uninstalled the other one. WTH lol this worked before.
