Post Your Overclock! [2]

It is weird, isn't it? But it's always hot in there every time it happens.

I have the panel off entirely now so let's see how it fairs now.

How long has it been since you've gave your rig a good cleaning? A little coating of dust on components will generate quite a bit of heat.

Hmm...that probably isn't long enough to build up an excess amount of dust. Unless where you live is dustier than usual, which is more of a concern in the summertime.

I took this last month so I had a record of max temps. They are pretty high, but after all it is an Ivy. This is as high as I'm going with the speed. I was trying 5.0 Ghz and kept getting BSOD on boot even at 1.340V. I do not want to get into the 1.4V range,so this is where I stop. Even though these temps are fairly high, under normal (gaming stress) conditions I'll never see these kinds of temps ,so I'm confident 4.8 Ghz/1.288V will be just fine for quite some time.

BTW,I was trying to run CineBench and the Open GL test keeps giving me an error. Not sure if maybe having the latest Nvidia driver (310.90) may be the problem?

Thanks
Greg

Great OC, indeed. And a low VID to boot!

As for my problem, which is at this point confirmed to be heat-related, is no longer a problem; took the panel off, started up Sleeping Dogs again and no anti-surge restart. Gonna have to monitor temperatures of everything and see what the culprit(s) could be.

Can't see what voltage you're using.

Did you notice much of a difference using the other video card for physx? I've read with high end video cards, there isn't any reason to add another for physx.

Yea sorry, the image got chopped for some reason. This run was done at 1.36v Vcore, 1.1v VTT, 1.1v VCCSA.

The only game I notice a big difference on (+/- 15 FPS) was Batman: Arkham City. With out the physx card it ran about 30-50 fps at max settings. 60+ throughout with it. It just depends on how hard a game that uses nvidia physx can load the main GPU.

I posted in another thread but I guess i'll ask here, the temperature spread under IBT load is 13c difference. Is this normal for a hexacore? I just re-did the thermal compound and nothing has change on that, I don't know of such a wide spread is normal for a hexacore or my chip is odd/bad.

Edit: here's a screen with OCCT. It's not a burn in, just to throttle the CPU up to see OC/volts.

Jerlys,if you are referring to the temp difference in each core, then yes, that is normal. My Ivy will have as much as 11C spread.
