Well i finally got chance to get in and sort my cpu oc It's near enough to 4.6Ghz.
x21, fsb 218 = 4.593 @ 1.428 idle, 1.404 load, high llc.
Cpu/Nb 2404, HTlink freq 2624, high llc.
Memory 1748Mhz @ 9-9-9-24-41-2T



Winsat score's and write speeds are crap with this cpu

Now that is mighty good memory and Cpu yes winsat kinda blows but the speed is there

don't you have a feature you can change your ram from 7ms to 3ms ?

Yeah i can change it from 7ms to 3ms i just don't have a clue when it comes to memory so try to leave it alone lol.
What does that setting do then?

Ryan just confirm your RAM timings and voltage is set to what the RAM labels have listed. I think it will default to 1333MHz unless you change it.

All settings are entered manually chap. Thanks though When i said i try to leave it alone i meant anything beyond the usual timmings(xmp prof). My ram overvolts slightly by between 0.010- 0.020 and ht by 0.010 but apart from that everything is as should be.

Not bad mate, I bet you can drop the voltage a fair bit though and that will make it run cooler too.

My 3770K will run 4.6ghz at the same voltage you are running, I would try dropping it to 1.2V and test for stability, then if that's stable go a bit lower.

Around 35c or so while idle, and 60c-68c or so full load. Ill change the voltage, and see how that goes.

EDIT: Changed to 1.2V

Speeds still around 35 c or so idling, and under 100% load almost never going over 60c.

One good thing about winter is you can push the limit a bit further.

Just did an 11 1/2 hr P95 stable run at 4.7ghz @1.296-1.304v actual.

Next step 4.8ghz. So far that's been really temp limited. A few cores nudged low to high 90's...

(Unlike my 2500K, this 3770k is NOT a Golden chip lol. )







The Asus Suite II is actually pretty decent. Good for on the fly tweaks. Although I still 'set' all settings in the BIOS once stable.

Tbh If I could get the temps down to my coolest core (never topped 85c) - I reckon there's more in her. Disable HT and Push for 5ghz.

I might even have a look at replacing the DH14 with one of the closed loop WC units. ie NZXT 140, Kraken X60 etc


(Might need a friendly US based member to buy from newegg and ship it to me since the choices are limited here. And more expensive )

Basically it's to give the insides a bit more space. Not have the top card absorbing the CPU heat etc. Then I can put my heat spreader back on one of my modules and see if i can run this kit at it's rated 2666mhz and not 2400mhz. (Although I cant see how a heat spreader would affect that. It's been a frustrating kit like that).

As for SLI, touch wood I've been having a good run. Drivers seem stable and most teething issues are now sorted and it's been running well. The majority of the time I'm in surround (actually works well as a desktop) and aside from a few games that require either detail lowering or widescreen tweaking, most run great.

Temp wise, most games are happy to run with a custom fan profile which keeps the noise down - but there are a few titles that need the fans at 100%

The only niggly issue is that one the cards fans is off balance and clips the card underneath when at high RPM.

I'd like to get it up higher because of the three cards. Eliminate any potential bottlenecks.

My other niggle was sound. After ditching my soundcard and going back to onboard a 2ch - my headphone jack started misbehaving constantly connecting/disconnecting so I went for a Creative 5.1 USB sound card. Should be here tmw. Having the fans at 100% does get annoying at times.

GPU utilization is okay. ~50-70% per card. 99% like dual SLI would be nice, but it's part tri SLI and 'possibly' bottlenecking a little.

Overall, I'm happy with it now

Good choice to swap out the DH14 it should help the airflow enit.

Patrick, I changed my D14 for a Corsair H100, and the D14 did a better job, but just about 3C, so not much to hang your hat on. It may be just a quirk, but I replaced some ram which required me to take the fans off the D14. When replacing them I only got the middle 140mm connected, and decided to wait to put the 120mm on until the next day. Believe it or not, but I got better temps without the 120. Again by not a big margin, but I would never have believed it. Using a closed loop will make the inside of the case look better, but performance wise, the D14 is about the best you will get without custom water cooling. [Official] Delidded ClubDelidding is the only real answer. If I can help, just let me know.

I live in Florida and it gets really hot, so I had no choice but to do water. I think yesterday was the first day of Summer and it's around 38-40C now. Personally, I'd rather do closed loop or the D14. My serious overclocking days are numbered. I wish I didn't have so much money tied up in water, I'd take another route, I think. I have heard some good things about the Swiftech H220. It's at least configurable and capable of adding another rad or GPUs to it. Some of he delidders have seen as much as 30C drops in temps. I guess, no guts, no glory.
