My motherboard had an option to choose any speed I desired. But I think it might be too much on the chip to bear. Was playing with DOTA2 the other day and the Idiot PC blank-screened on me. Might have to haul the clock down to ~4200 Mhz.

You are are probably good at just 4ghz

Anything after 4ghz is really negotiable

I really would like to overclock my old computer, I love windows 7,

Can anyone guide me please, perhaps remotely assist me in order to speed up my old and only one laptop.
I have never been able to set the performance settings for best appearance. This computer was a gift and it has always been set to improve program performance. I only ungraded the ram the its maximum after extensive research three years ago. My girlffriend cannot work and I cannot afford to buy me a pair of pants since more than a year ago. I usually google this type of stuff but I saw that I could belong to a group like this better idea.

Besides, I am already goggle-ing weird things like (speed up Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2370 @ 1.73GHz, speed up TOSHIBA MK1637GSX ATA, speed up ddr pc2-5300, install flash.ocx, install wiflax)...and looking for a job too as a matter of fact to make some more.

HELP. I would like to know if I can improve my laptop performance or overclock something here. I usually stop bonjour service and any process consuming my memory or network connection speed. Pura Vida. I would be at peace with some improvements to make this beloved brick more personal with visual effects set for best appeareance.

To be able to overclock a CPU, you need an unlocked multiplier (something that you can't toggle, they come out of the factory like this) but unfortunately it's locked on the T2370 so you won't be able to overclock it.

Also, laptop overclocking is a very bad idea as you lack the airflow desktops have. When you overclock, everything will run hotter and in a confined space like a laptop, that can cause damage when it begins to overheat.

Short of upgrading the laptop (which sounds out of the question), the only thing you'll be able to do to speed it up is to uninstall any software you don't need, and make sure as little as possible is running at any time

I know this wasn't the answer you were hoping for but I'm afraid it's the only way. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

I have an old Dell laptop with a T2390 CPU in it. I have done everything I can to speed it up, but nothing seemed to make much difference. The one thing I did that made a difference was put an SSD in it. That made a significant difference. I know you can't do that right now. But, maybe when you find a job and have some money, it would be something you could consider.

With a SSD you will think you have a race computer.
Once you use a SSD you won't want anything else, ever.

My daily OC. its still a bit high of a temp, but ive done everything i could to reduce it and it just wont go any lower without replacing the cooler. its still pretty far from my max of 85C using 1 fan in push. It's also 28C ambient temp.

H80i. i had it at 4.5, but it was hitting 72C while gaming.

Could use a good guide on overclocking memory on a Z87 motherboard - see system specs. Especially helpful would be the advance timings. Anyone have a good suggestions?

I actually have that guide added to my favorites. The only issue I have with it is Sin gets a little too deep into things, but yeah that is a good one. I'll give it a go.

sygnus21 what speed ram do you have.

I have found that if you have 1600 or higher, overclocking ram does very little to improve system performance.

Hey Jack it's in my system specs, but 32gig of Corsair's Dominator Platinum at 1866Mhz.
