PowerDVD file/folder association

Hello everyone!

I installed Powerdvd (7.3) from the CD that came with my blu-ray player, and it worked fine. IFO files where associated to Powerdvd, so that opening the first IDO of a DVD image would result in the DVD playing normally with Powerdvd.

When I played a blu-ray for the first time, Powerdvd needed an update, wich went fine. However, it looks like that now (to play DVD images) I need to "feed" PowerDVD with the VIDEO_TS folder rather than the first IFO file within that folder.

I can remove the asscoiation between IFO files and PowerDVD, but I can't find a way to add an option in the folder context menu to "open with PowerDVD".

Any idea?

Hey, PowerDVD is awesome. You really should get yourself a copy of version 9. You'll love it.

As for your fix, it's quite simple.

Start menu, hit all programs, then default programs.

In the box that opens, click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.

Scroll down to .ifo and double click its line. Click browse. The navigate to C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\

I don't know about your version but I think the next folder you want is PowerDVD7 (mine is PowerDVD9.)

Click on PDVDLaunchPolicy.exe

Hit ok and done.

You may not have to navigate as it may show up as soon as you double click the .ifo line under recommended programs.

Diod, you are attempting a very hard and un-reliable work around.
The issue you are having is during the rip to image for playback the image must be mounted as a virtual drive.
Virtual clone comes to mind and it is freeware.
Depending on the ripper copy the BD as an iso onto your hard drive and then mount and playback with Anydvd.
