I have 32bit vista here right now on my notebook. Can I after sony send me my licence download x64 version of win7 the same edition and use this licence?

wouldn't it be a warez?

Hello yterbium,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

If the rules are the same there as here, then the license should be good for either x86 or x64 of the same edition. Could ask Sony though to be sure.

Hope this helps.

Hi garysgold,

thanks for answer, but I have another "bigger" problem.

On sony vaio web is written, that only "in-place upgrade" would be possible, "clean installation would´t be possible".

Does this mean, that I cannot do clean installation?

Or better said:
If I download from somewhere win7 x64, and use product key sony will send me, would this "CLEAN INSTALLATION" accept this product key?

An upgrade key will only work for upgrades. AFAIK

Absolutely! How else would this hunk o' junk run?
I have a Vaio and all they mean is that you could lose your restore partition, and the ability to make your restore discs. This may also invalidate the warranty, so pay attention there... If these are not an issue, then you are free to do a clean installation. See Brinks tutorial on performing a clean installation with an upgrade disc -=> here

link is dead, or missing... So I have to store the recovery partition and my Vista recovery disks (which I have alredy burned). And than I can delete C (where is windows) and create new particton and do "clean install". So I hope this would work, I will post back, when my DVD and product key arrives (about 3 weeks they had said.)

thanks for that link, that is what I am looking for.

So let's summarize it (because my english isn't best...)

1/ I have to wait until sony send me upgrade licence for x86 win7 Home premium
2/ Than I can download x64 win7 Home Premium from somewhere
3/ I do clean install without entering my upgrade licence and unchecked "active online"
4/ after installation is completed I do OPTION FREE in this(nine steps):http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html
5/ and than I only do METHOD TWO in this:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3408-activate-windows-7-online.html

And that's THE END.

So please , if you can ensure me:
--this would be absolutely legal?
--this would work without any problems with activation?

sorry for these maybe "stupid" questions, but I want to be 100% sure:sarc:
