Well I think I got this worked out at least temporarily with the drive not being seen due to protected GUID. I copied my stuff to another computer then re-formatted the Passport as NTFS partition and now it is accessible by both windows 7 and windows xp computers and can read & write to and from it with no problems.
I'll need to figure out something for my internal storage space though because I don't have enough room for everything thats on the Passport.
