Solved Problem with laptop Acer

Nice work, Ripbox. :geek:

What is the special "Geek Squad" tool? Is it the CD with various hardware tests they left in my friends's PC? :p

Rep for reading the log to catch the dastardly Reg Cleaner and optimizer suite which are DEATH to Win7.

If you've ruined your OS with these I'd find a Win7 installation DVD to clean reinstall, following these tips to get a perfect reinstall of factory OEM: Clean Reinstall steps

Then once it's set up save a Win7 backup image and use only normal system settings because Win7 is too lean to tolerate compound XP/early Vista-era tweaking.

Yes Greg it most certainly would be that very disc (ill PM you)
I too am guilty of leaving said disc in customers Machines... ooops! Thank god they expire! they can be deadly in the wrong hands!
I don't believe his system is too badly infected, i believe AVG corruption is causing his lag and those optimization tools are causing false Alerts
Once hes ran those tools again (provided he runs combox fix with connectivity to run in full functionality) hell be almost as good as new, though you can not beat a good old fashioned F&R

Not fast enough!
Depends on how much tweaking he's done.

Having two suites probably means compound tweaking which presents such a minefield of problems down the road in Win7 that I don't any longer try to cope with them but just clean reinstall.

Sometimes if one can restore before the tweaks were done, that will suffice.

Same with remnants of infection. Vundo can be persistent and will not always disinfect.

You are giving me many options.
Now I will do this: Remove AVG; Install Avast; Run Boot Scan; Scan with Malwarebytes and scan with ComboFix, then post here.

Should I first uninstall SpeedUpMyPC and RegistryBooster? Notice I have "Frontline Registry Cleaner" installed too - is it a problem?

Yes to all of the above. Remove those 3 programs as well.

And as mentioned by gregrocker, run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

I also noticed you have Daemon tools lite installed, I've seen that mentioned a lot in the crashes forum for having conflicts with win 7 sometimes, I'll let others confirm this though.

So, I uninstalled registry booster and SpeedupMYPC via control panel->programs. Then uninstalled AVG by the same way. Then I tried installing Avast 6, but it can't. It stops at the last of the installation "Finishing installation"... I waited it like that 1 hour and nothing happened. So avast 6 can't be installed. :(
i also did a SFC /SCANNOW and the result was that there are corruped files, some of which could not be repaired. And there was one HUGE log.
Now, this boot scan can't be done, I think. Avast just don't want to install.

Oh wait! This morning when I started the computer, I saw Avast installed and fully functional. So right now I am running boot scan. So far it found one infected file in C:/Common Files/... with name "odbc.exe" - the same file that I saw first, when my problems began. Should I delete every infected file or Move it to chest?

It was too much, I just got a clean re-install. Thanks for all your help.

Good idea. You should make an image of your new clean system so you can be up and running in a very short time in case you run in to problems again.

Good idea is to stay away from those "Optimizing" programs, windows 7 does not need them.

Here's some info on imaging,

You're welcome. Also a good idea. The imaging info will save you hours if not days of frustration by always having something to fall back on, good peace of mind too. :)
