hi
I recently purchased a AMD Phenom X4 965 and an Asus M3N72-T Deluxe 780a. I have had a number of problems with this system but i have managed to rectifiy these. Yesterday 2 of my HDD's disappeared along with my DVD drive from My computer and Device Manager. My HDD's re-appeared quite quickly and so did the DVD drive. However every so often the DVD drive will disappear especially after being brought out of sleep mode. Refreshing devices in Device Manager does occassionaly work but is not 100%.
Ive read quite a number of other threads about this kind of problem and most of the suggestions have been to install the Intel Matrix Manager however I cant do that because my processor is AMD. Can I?
I thought it may also have something to do with the sata settings in the bios. I had problems with installing windows when i set the mode to AHCI so i set it back to IDE mode (however this disables 2 out of my 6 sata ports). Windows seemed to take for ever to install which tends to suggest problems with the motherboard.
Some help on how to stop this problem with the DVD drive would be good and if anyone knows anything about how I can get the extra 2 sata ports working would also be helpful. I have been tearing my hair out over this and it has become very annoying. Asus support has been incredibly S**** and im today is the last day that i can send it back without any questions asked so a swift response would be incredibly helpful.
thanks.
