Punkbuster fix

OK this works for some games in Windows 7 apparently only on 32bit. No Guarentees
with some credit to HowieDouglas

Solution.
-Open RUN
-Type in Services.msc
-Find PnkbstrA & PnkBstrB
in the second tab over on the top tick "Allow service to interact with desktop"
-close Services
-Go to game shortcut
-Properties
-Compatibility tab
-Tick the box "Run as Administrator"
-Download the attached file
-Right click -> Properties
-Compatibility ->"Run As Admin"
-Run the .exe
-Run Game

PNKBSTR BUSTED

EDIT: Works on 32 bit, not 64x. I'll update once I can find a solution to 64x

what does this "fix" fix? Has this been tested on other pb games other than COD4? whats the pbtool actually do?

Not solved for me.

I followed your guide step by step but still get the unknown windows api kick in 2142. I tried with UAC on and off.

yeah i started noticing that too in 2142. Something about Pnkbstr B disappears in the battlefield games and gets refreshed ...i dont know what it is...but it works on other games like COD and ...i cant think of any others that i play haha

hello Sparatan117 you see PB updating ended sometime ago before the completed this update where PB is refreshed every few minutes...

games such as FEAR combat that have PB enable dont have a problem... (at least on my end...) without needed anything else running in the background...

Exactly which is why we're having a problem now, they figured that it would be a much harder thing to fool hackers to refresh the pnkbstr B service every few minutes instead of a stationary one.

For right now i'm just playing on non-punk buster servers when it comes to the battlefield franchise

It did not work in America's Army (using win7 32 bit)

Also there seems to be no way to start pnkbstrb without starting the game, but it seemed to start with interact with the desktop on by default.


Enemy territory works without doing anything.

Thats interesting. ET must be one of the API's that required for system running by 7.

Do me a favor and go into services and see if Pnkbstr B is running prior to americas army.
then tab out durring americas army and see if it is running and then click properties and see if the checkmark for interact with desktop is checked.

I ran COD 5 WAW i played 5 days, no api errors, then WIn7 adds/ dloads a new update i get Api function errors 131131/2/4/5/6
COD 4 from 1st run in 1 second kicks
COd 5 Kicks after 3 mins and 5 secs
ETQW - 5 mins
AA - 1 minuite and kick
UT3 - Works good? is that even Punkbuster, but after like 10 mins, the game just exits and i get this screen that Flickurs
Some ERROR
I/O - unable to ??Configure?? patform restricion aplication lanuched WTF ?

Seemingly Punkbuster hasn't been solved and the discussion can be held in the original thread.

I was mistaken pnkbstrB.exe didn't start with interact with desktop on by default.
And now when i try to change that while in a server the game becomes unresponsve and I'll need to close it.

Ye, rename the Thread, its Rubbish that Junk won't work, my frind Is testing some crazy idea to integrate Some .Dll's into System 32 and run under compatability (like a XP emulator), but he is failing badelly

Thanks ,worked for me with Cod4 ,but not with Wolfenstein Enemy-Territory ,im lookin forward for playin ET @ Win7 .
I have tried lot's of stuff but still nothing ..
