Hello, all.

Just a quick question, but is there any way to remove the line of text saying "Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display" from the System page in Control Panel?

All 3 of my machines have this text, and none of them use any touch devices, so I'd like to remove the message, if possible. :)

I once read about a registry value that can be edited to change Support info, and that made me wonder if this line of text can be hidden.

Thanks,
Tom. :)

I don't believe so... The System page is just there to show information for your system. There is no registry setting or 'hack' for the standard System display page.

Fair enough, just wondered. :P

Unless anyone else has any new information on the matter, I'd say it can be marked as solved. :)

Would send a screen shot of the System Page you are referring to?
I don't have that showing up on mine at all- if we're looking at the same page.
TIA!

Of course. I have attached it. :)

The part I outlined in blue, is the part I wish to remove.

Set the Tablet PC Input Service to Manual.
Here: Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services

If the Service is running Click on Stop the Service
You may have to re-boot- I don't' know.

Check the System page to see if it's gone.

Let me know.

Unfortunately, I already tried setting that to both manual, and disabled, and the message still appeared after a restart.

It's not exactly a problem, though. I was just curious. :P

In your Control panel do you have a Pen and Touch entry?

If so, click on that and in the window that opens click the Touch tab.
Uncheck the box that is marked Use your finger...
You might want to hunt around and experiment with other settings as well.

I don't have this Control Panel entry.
I'm also using Home Premium, so what I'm seeing might be different.

Let me know...

Unfortunately, no. Both my 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate do not have this entry. :P

OK Teekz- I should have thought of this sooner.

Go to: Control Panel/Programs and Features/
Click on: Turn Windows features on or off
Uncheck the box labeled: Tablet PC Components

I got excited, because it told me to restart, and then it said "configuring windows features" on startup, then it automatically rebooted, said that again, but it still says "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display" in System. :P

This is quite puzzling.
OK- let's try this.

Open the Run box under the Star button and type: msconfig <enter>
Under the Services Tab, see what it says about Tablet PC Input Service.
Is it running? Stopped?
Uncheck it in any case.
If it was checked to begin with, then re-boot.
---

If that doesn't work then:

Be very careful here- disabling/uninstalling the wrong thing could develop into a nasty piece of business for you.
I'd make a good, recoverable, verifiable backup before you continue. You've been warned.

Open Device Manager in Control Panel
Click View/Show Hidden Devices

Open these and see if there's anything listed regarding the Tablet business

  • Human Interface Devices
  • Mice and other pointing devices
If nothing there you could check some of the other entries.
I'll repeat- make backups.
---

Let me know...

There is no service mentioning anything about a Tablet, nor is there anything to this effect in Device Manager, that I can see.

No worries. It might be impossible. :P

I was just curious, as all. No worries. I appreciate all the attempts. :D

I'll mark this as solved anyway, since there is no way to do this.
