Hi. I have installed a whole new windows 7 pro x64. My new mobo an ASus p5e3 pro along with new ram pc12800 gskill 2x2 ddr3 (running in 1066mhz due to my q6600)

Everythingi s running perfectly...except some random BSOD. 4 total this week.

I have posted a pack of dump file in here, the last 4 ones are the ones that represent the 4 BSOD I had and that I cannot explain.

the others ones are for various reasons, crashes who happenned during installation but that I was able to resolve.

What is weird is that my BSOD only happenned when I was surfing explorer on when the CPU was idle at night, with utorrent running.

today mc pc got BSOD at 11:54 AM after 1 night or running perfectly. it is open since then and running perfectly again.

All the afternoon for 4 hours it loaded utorrent, I cam back from the university and started to play empire total war and lot of MW2 multiplayer.

Everything is working perfectly, no BSOD !! But I'm afraid to leave my pc open this night...when the BSOD happen I usually have to reboot manually because if it reboot by itself it lead to a DOS screen saying to select a boot device.

Help me someone... I cannot believe me G-skill memory are faulty, otherwise they would have failed in-game.

I suspect nvidia drivers 195.62 can be responsible for thoses bluescreen. The power management tool is not working properly and whatever the option I choose in the nvidia panel it will sometimes lower my frequencies and sometimes it will keep the stock one.

A strange thing also is that my CPU is lowering it's speed in a kind of power saving option, but I turned intel speedstep off so it should not do it should it ?

IS there a problem running pc12800 in 1066 mhz ? I do not want to maintain my FSB to north bridge to 400mhz all the time cause it heat my system a lot. I use that function from time to time for hard gaming sessions. (crysis for example)

PLease help !

Thanks for your help already.

I think I must also mention that BSOD didnt always give the same message, wich lead me to confusion in my troubleshooting research.

I can't see anything common for all the crashes , what antivirus are you using ?

can you also download and run from boot memtest86 for at least 3 passes then post back with your results ?

Thanks for your answers.

I do not use anti-virus. I only have CCleaner installed for now. Will probably get hijack this and another spyware defender.

For the memory part, Well I have been told by some computer enginner that software used to test memory can damage the memory. Is it really safe ?

Like I said, the last four dump file are the one that cause me an headache. The others ones are due to circumstances I was able to fix.

If you confirm to me that memtest86+ pose no risk for my memory, I will eventually give it a try.

Here is another blue screen, the daily one.

I gamed all the after-noon. everything went well. Tonight I started listen hockey to tv and left my cpu alone for 20 minutes. I come back in the room and BSOD right there ! PFN_List_Corrupt or something like that.

I have attached the .dmp file in there.

Hope this can help find a solution...I also reverted back to nvidia driver 190.38.

MemTest is a RAM reliability tester that runs under Windows. It evaluates the ability of your computer to store and retrieve data accurately. A correctly functioning computer should be able to do both these tasks with 100% accuracy day in and day out.

If your computer fails these tests, perhaps because of old hardware, damaged hardware, or poorly configured hardware, it will become less stable and crash more often.

Even worse, it will become even less stable over time as corrupted data is written to your hard disk.

Excessive heat , static electricity, shock damage and faulty manufacture is how RAM can be "bad" and damaged :geek:

please run the test and we can move on ?

Another question is can you force a blue screen situation , such as maybe when it sleeps ?

While we are debugging this problem try avoid changing too many variables ;)

I will try memtest soon...

But I have already uninstalled the logitech drivers. My brother is a computer studend and he is the one who installed my windows 7. As soon as we talk about BSOD he told me to remove that webcam. I told him no it work fines.

But with your suggestion I removed it.

Then windows update try to install them again, one called logitech driver (2007) and the other one ACPI or something like that. the ACPI update failed(I did not know it was related until it tells me it's a device not compatible) and I excluded the logitech one. The error message for that failed update is as follow :

''
Description
Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID USB\VID_046D&PID_08AD&MI_00\6&1782AF90&0&0000 with the following status: 0xe0000203.
''

I verified on logitech the serial number of my Communicate STX webcame and noticed the drivers for this specific serial numbers are not compatible with windows 7.

I think I may have found the problem. I will still try memtest soon. Do you suggest me the memtest86 or the memtest86+ ??? one is version 3.5 the other one vers 4.0 ? Is there a better one between the two or a safer one ?

I have not experienced BSOD since I removed Nvidia driver 195.62 and replaced them by 190.38 thought...

More info to comes durings the next comings days. Again thanks for your answers, your work on this and your patience.

This forum is wonderful. I will also try to help people when I can. I feel I owe you something already :)

PS : I do not think I can force a bluescreen since it's always random. The last one happenned yesterday after 16 hours of use with no BSOD...I was not doing anything specific... Thanks for all your advices, again.

go into device manager and disable the webcam ;)

memtest86 version 3.5 from the link I gave is gr8 mostly because it's free :p

one stick at a time will work best with this version of memtest :)

It says that I have to create a bootable device, this mean I must boot with that program burned as an iso on a dvd or cd right ?

Or is there a way to run it on windows desktop ?

Thanks again my friend !

Hi and welcome

these crashes were all caused by memory problems.

I would download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes
run a system file check type cmd in search>right click and run as an admin>
sfc /scannow

Hi and welcome

these crashes were all caused by memory problems.

I would download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes
run a system file check type cmd in search>right click and run as an admin>
sfc /scannow

Are you sure ? My memory is brand new and QVL...you think it is already faulty ? MY cpu has been running non-stop for the last 30 hours. I've played many games at max settings and used video and utorrent a lot. CPU was under heavy usage. Everything is going well right after I reverted the nvidia driver back, along with the removal of a problematic webcam.

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT mean a device or a driver is causing a problem ?

I am not overclocking anything btw!

After review, the ram was not QVL at all. It's the same model but a different chip number.

Must I mention that my system is new from 01/08/2010.

The hard drive was formatted on this date, right during the installation of windows 7 x64. Maybe some of the crashes caused that ?

I can't see anything common for all the crashes , what antivirus are you using ?

can you also download and run from boot memtest86 for at least 3 passes then post back with your results ?

It says that I have to create a bootable device, this mean I must boot with that program burned as an iso on a dvd or cd right ?

Or is there a way to run it on windows desktop ?

Thanks again my friend !

no you don't want to and can't run it in a windows environment , we are testing the ram exclusively ;)

yes burn the iso to cd and run from boot :)

good to see you zigzag

While I would normally agree a system this new wouldnt have BSOD's but it is and something has to be causing them. If you look and the description in the analysis it clearly states memory corruption. Something is obviously wrong and al we need to do is fix it

You probably would eliminate these crashed by a clean install wouldnt you rather find out what is causing them before going through the pain of a reinstall

I still have not run the memtest. I'm not too confident doing that myself for some reasons, I will wait someone to help me.

In brief, you're saying that there is a good chance it is not faulty hardware related but something like corruption of windows or anything else like that ?

Again thanks for your patience and all the help you have all provided.

MY system has been running 40 hours now without any problem. I think removing the incompatible webcam helped lot...
