Hi!
I am getting blue screens very randomly. It used to happen from time to time last year but then it stopped and everything seemed fine for several months.
But since a few days I am now getting these blue screens more frequently than ever.
If I remember correctly I have never had such a blue screen before I upgraded my RAM and got a new graphics card about one year ago.
The randomness of these errors really is a problem because I could not just start my PC in safe mode or change a driver and see if that fixes things... because sometimes I won't get a BSOD for weeks.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you :)

Well; it sounds like you could have possible bad ram. At this point i would say to take out all of the ram and put them back in one by one and see if and when you get to the blue screen. If it gives you the blue screen at any point while putting the ram back in, then the probable cause is that ram stick/module.

Also have a pretty bad speaker setup which is a klipsch promedia 5.1 surround speaker setup with huge subwoofer and lg blu ray player/writer. Also a hp officejet pro 8600 plus wireless all in one and a logitech s7500 webcam.
Hi matts, thanks for your help!
Did you get this information (that I could have bad ram) from my log files?

I would like to add another question:
Is it possible to check my RAM with a tool like memtest or would that be too inaccurate? Because as I have already described, I get these blue screens very infrequently so it will probably be hard for me to tell if there is a difference after I take a RAM bar out.

Hi Timon. Posting as my beloved and respected friend derekimo requested us to have a look. Usually we dont step in in the threads being dealt with by other geeks, as far as it is not requested to do so.

Can you uninstall Acronis Try&Decide? It is contributing to your BSODs.

Also update the network driver from Realtek. Get the first one from the list. Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Driver. Install it by following http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/97061-driver-install-device-manager.html.

The display driver is too old. As old as the network driver. So it is failing, too. Update your ATI/AMD display driver to the latest WHQL.
You can get it from the link in our forum, http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-...alyst-video-driver-windows-7-a.html#post17671, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.
ATI_zps0bc28aaa.jpg

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

Some more drivers may be outdated. Help us to have a look. Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.
As we can see failing drivers and there is adequate reason behind those failures, we cannot assign it to a hardware failure. If and only if we get driver failures those are meaningless, we cannot say that the drivers are getting corrupted by a failing RAM.

Let us know the results.

Alright, so I managed to update my display and network drivers.

I am not sure about Acronis Try & Decide though as it is just a feature of Acronis True Image (which had not even been enabled in the first place, so it is pretty weird that it still seems to be running and causing problems).
I have disabled all Acronis services for now hoping that this will suffice. Or should I uninstall Acronis True Image completely?

Thanks again, I am lucky to get such good help from you :)

Please uninstall Acronis in full, at least as a test. It is seen many a times that Acronis restricts the storage to work at its full capacity.

Uninstall the following:

  • AMD OverDrive: C:\Programme\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Fuel\amd64\AODDriver2.sys
Update AMD Chipset Drivers.

Let us know the results.

Okay I uninstalled Acronis completely and installed the AMD chipset drivers like you suggested. My driverview does not look that different to me, at least there are still some 2009 drivers showing up.
Hope it still solved my blue screen issues though!

Edit: There still seem to be some Acronis leftovers in my registry. Is that a problem?

You may manually delete Acronis Virtual Disk Storage Filter in C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\vsflt67.sys.

Now observe how it is going, let is know if you feel any necessity.

Hi Arc,
I have not had a single bluescreen since I did those things that you recommended. And I did not even have to get rid of my RAM as I thought before! Thanks!!

There is a downside though: Whenever I plug a USB stick or USB flash drive into my computer I cannot access it. I am getting Code 39 error (corrupt or missing drivers).

I searched the internet for this problem and it seems to be a common issue for people like me who uninstalled Acronis. The sad part is that noone seems to have been able to fix it.
So I guess I might have to do a complete system reinstallation anyways but we'll see... I definitely know that I will try to not ever use Acronis again if I can avoid it. ;)

Edit:
LOL! I found this fix http://kb.acronis.com/content/26062 on the Acronis website. It is designed for people who have Acronis installed (not uninstalled) but I tried it anyways and it is working! :D
I hope that the BSODs won't return now that I have installed this though. I will tell you as soon as I know.

Unfortunately I had another blue screen last night. Is there anything else that I can do to try to fix this?

So I uninstalled the driver that was installed by the Acronis USB fix. My USB still works and I haven't had a blue screen since. I am very happy, thanks again Arc! :)
