Random BSOD

Hello,
For quite some time my computer has been randomly crashing to the BSOD. Sometimes after a couple minutes and sometimes after hours of use. Nothing in particular seems to set it off but I think it may have something to do with the RAM because after I awake the computer from sleep it's a sure way to crash it. Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to attach the dump files, let me know if I attached anything incorrectly or if you need more info. Thanks again!

Hello and welcome Frosty mate if you suspect the RAM try this.

MEMTEST

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.htmlthis one you will need to make a bootable disk set the BIOSto optical (or USB if preferred) boot the machine and let it run for at LEAST 8 passes unless the errors come upstraight away. Takes a fair time to complete and some leave it runningovernight.

If you do get errors and have morethan one stick then you will need to test each one separately and maybe even inthe separate slots.
Plus are the sticks all the same brand or pairs etc etc and have you tried reseating them?

Hey, thanks for the tip. I let it run through multiple times but no errors came up. If it's not the RAM, do you have any other ideas for what may cause it? Perhaps the OS?

There aren't any .dmp file in your attachment. These are required to analyse the BSOD.

Follow these steps:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html

Then, when the system next BSOD's, follow this:

1. Download this .BAT file to your desktop

Download

2. Right-click the .BAT file and 'Run as Administrator'
3. Locate the .ZIP file created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

Thanks for the info! My device manager shows "Storage Controllers". Is this the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" equivalent? Inside of that there's only "Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller". When I delete it and reset the computer it automatically re-downloads by itself. What do I need to do differently?
