Hi guys,
I hope you can help, I've been having some random crashing and BSOD's

I thought at first it was my webcam drivers 9as a crash happened whilst using Skype) so I installed the latest version from the manufacturers site. But I'm still having issues.

I'm not playing games or even pushing the processors with lots of programs etc. These happen sometimes when just using Facebook and not much else.

Sometimes everything freezes and other times I get a full on crash and reboot.

Thanks in advance
GD

Hi again.

All the recent BSOD-s seem to be caused by Creative Technologies video capture driver.
Please uninstall its software and unplug the device from your system. See if you still get BSOD-s.

What antivirus software do you use? We recommend MSE and MBAM.
Microsoft Security Essentials.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
   Warning
:ar: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

Make scans with the following:

-Kaspersky TDSSKiller
-ESET online scanner
In addition, run the malicious software removal tool and WDO:
Perform a System File Check:
  1. Click on the start :orb:
  2. Type CMD on Search
  3. Left click and Run as Administrator
  4. Type SFC /scannow
Full tutorial here:
Disk Check on your hard drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it:
Reduce items at start-up. Nothing except anti-virus is required plus improves the time for logging in windows.

Let us know the results and further bsod reports.

Ok, so I've run every test as asked and apart from "4 x Win32/Adware.Virtumonde.NEO application" found by ESET none of the programs found anything.

In the meantime I installed the webcam on my Laptop, and within minutes of downloading the drivers and using the cam guess what. CRASH! BSOD!

No crashes or BSOD's on my main PC today (as yet) so it must have been the webcam causing the problems

I've fired off an email to Creative to see if they can do anything but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for your help again KoolKat77

I guess this can be marked as solved.?

GD
