Good evening, everyone.

I'm not sure how I did it, but it seems I've accidentally disabled the prompt to save attachments that appears when double-clicking them in an e-mail, and am unable to re-enable it.

I've scoured the internet for a possible solution, and I'm at a loss.

My computer runs Windows 7, so the method using the Folder Options > File Type tab is not available.

I've also tried editing my registry to no avail.

If anyone knows of another method to re-enable this prompt, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this before, someone clicks the do not show this dialog again, and it is gone. Getting it back was easy in XP, but in Vista and after I always see (often different) instructions for registry edits. Which is no doubt what you tried?

Ask again before opening | MSOutlook.info

Launch Registry Editor (Start >> Run >> regedit.exe)
Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Shell \ AttachmentExecute \ {0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
Delete any registry values that exist
Re-launch IE and test – you should now get prompted to open or save for all file types

If no success, and not an answer, but a workaround, right click the attachment will get you the options you seek.

I've seen this suggestion before, but when I open the registry editor, there is no AttachmentExecute in the Shell directory. :confused:

Yeah, I don't have it either, but I don't have Outlook, so thought you might. I have searched far and wide (as I had before). Lots of suggestions of the same, but usually no fix unless XP with the easy method. You might try to repair/or reinstall Outlook.
