Yes that's all you have to do, make it easy on yourself.

Disk Management will likely not want to delete a System Active partition.

Plug HD back in, from Win7 open an Elevated Command Prompt, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SEL DISK # (replace # with HD with old SysReserved)
LIST PART
SEL PART 1 (confirm old SysReserved is partition 1)
DELETE PARTITION OVERRIDE
EXIT

as I mentioned before all I did was erase and then create new simple volume

You do not want any other partition other than the SysResv active, leave it as it is.

For those finding this thread In searches be aware there is no reason at all to be concerned about whether you have or don't have the System Reserved partition. Either it or the Win7 partition need to be marked System Active to be correct.
