Realtek HD audio driver buzzing on windows 7 64

Today i have installed windows 7 on 64 bits and i just cannot get past this problem with the sound. I have a 5.1 surround audio system and have installed the latest Realtek HD audio driver on my pc to get all the speakers going.

After the installation of the driver every sound came with buzzing. The music, the clicking on folders, games, anything, every sound was buzzing, just like the static you get on radio, a blurred sound, if i may call it that way. This was the first thing to install on my PC after the Opera browser. I only have the standard High Definition Audio Driver from the windows, no other audio driver, so i don't think that anything can interfere with the Realtek driver. Can this be because it's 64 bits?

Can anyone help please? I've seen this problem on the net but there was no exact answer. Why is Realtek software acting this way? I tried reinstalling or tried older versions, nothing helped. :??:
Can anyone give any piece of advice?

Welcome to the Windows 7 forum.

If you have RealTek, you should not also have the "High Definition Audio Codec" which is the Windows installed generic sound driver. Normally, when you install the proper sound driver, such as RealTek, the High Definition Audio Codec, driver is automatically deleted.

Please fill in the "My System Specs". It helps us to help you.

]I updated my specs, hope it will help. I tried to delete the high definition audio codec manually or stop it from reinstalling but i couldn't. The buzz comes because there are two drivers fighting for control? i read that on another thread but found no answer regarding this problem.

now it sounds ok, the ati hdmi audio is not a driver, i should uninstall it, it doesn't help. I uninstalled the realtek driver to get clear sound with Stereo.

Your sound only shows the ATI HDMI audio and the "High Definition Audio Device, not RealTek.

The ASUS site does not show any available sound driver for Windows 7. It does show a Vista driver, which is also applicable to Vista. This suggests this is an older motherboard. Was this system upgraded from Windows XP?

Disable the High Definition Audio Device, in the Device Manager, then reinstall the RealTek. Check the Device Manager to see if the RealTek is shown. If it is, try the audio. If not, you may be limited to the High Definition Audio driver.

By the way, I see you only have 4GB of RAM. The main reason to use a 64 bit OS is to address more than 4GB of RAM. With only 4GB of RAM you have limited available RAM. The 64 bit OS requires more RAM to operate than the 32 bit.

unfortunately, it was built in 2012 and the components are second hand. and i mentioned in the last comment that i uninstalled realtek to get clear sound. i did disable the hd audio device while i had realtek driver installed, but still got the buzzing... would reinstalling the windows on 32 bits change anything?

I don't think 32 bit would change the sound. If it works with the HD Audio Codec, just keep that and not try to install RealTek.

it works, the problem is, i have a 5.1 surround sound system, but the hd audio codec offers no panel for changing the speaker configuration

Which RealTek driver did you try? Have you tried the one on the RealTek downloads? If not, give that a try.

i've tried all the drivers. in the meantime, i've installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bits sp 1. same problem... i'll just take it to a specialist, i guess my sound card is the problem. it's integrated, it's not a stand-alone model, so maybe this is the issue but thanks for everything if i'll ever need something, i'll come here

You may need a Win 7 compatible sound card. Good luck
