Recovering lost space

So I've deleted a file which was around 7gb off an NTFS 500gb USB drive and the remaining space is left unchanged (the file is NOT in the recycle bin on the drive either) so I've been robbed 7gb.
How to get it back? I remember XP used to do the same thing sometimes when deleting +4gb files.

Boot the computer and then check.
If still missing download and run windirstat to see whats on the drive.
Defrag
Download and use auslogics defrag for this and future defrags. Most here think that it is better than the defrag that comes with Windows.
