Hello all,

This forum seems perfect to me to post a question that has screwed my mind for several hours.

1) I changed the manner the Windows Explorer opens, using this tip found on the web:

I modified the target in the Shortcut thumbnail lying in the 'Properties of Windows Explorer' dialog box that is opened when clicking on Properties of Windows Explorer.

The target %windir%\explorer.exe must be
replaced with %windir%\explorer.exe ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
in order to make Windows Explorer opening on 'Computer' instead of 'Libraries'.

2) Then, I learned that the combination of keys "Windows-Logo + E" allows to launch Windows Explorer also.
It works. When I press this combination, Windows Explorer is launched and opens on 'Computer'

3) Then I played testing all the possibilities concerning Windows Explorer:

- there are 4 ways to launch Windows Explorer:
....a)cliking on its icon in the taskbar
....b) clicking on Start\All the programs\Accessories\Windows Explorer
....c) clicking on C:\Windows\explorer.exe
....d) pressing Windows-Logo key + E key combination

- there are 3 ways to access Properties of WE

- there are two ways to restore the WE icon in the taskbar after having deleted it

To keep this question short, I don't describe the two last ones here for the moment.

4) And then, presently, having done many testing operations to study these possibilities, I don't precisely remind how I changed the target of WE in the Shortcut of its Properties, and what influence have these numerous operations on this initial shortcut.

----

The point now is that, whatever I can do trying to redefine the target in the Shortcut thumbnail, I can't obtain the combination of keys "Windows-Logo + E" to launch Windows Explorer opening on another location than 'Computer'.

How the hell to make this combination of keys to open an other location ? That is to say, how could I change the setting of the target in the initial Shortcut I performed

An interrogation linked to this problem is : where is the information of the behavior of Windows-Logo + E combination stored ?
Where in the computer is lying the Shortcut I first defined with another target address ?

Thank you for your attention

Hello vyncence mate if I am reading this right you want to use the original short cut for WE to open something else?

Now I know there are several ways to open certain locations in Windows using different keys etc what I would like to know is why do you want use that particular combination to open something specific to your use? I am just curious because I cannot see a reason for what you want to do.
