Ok so I know it is possible to remove things from the libraries pane in explorer which I have done, but this question is not about the explorer libraries pane but it is about the open file/folder/whatever libraries pane. How do you get rid of "Favorites", "Homegroup", and "Network"? If you only use the normal tutorial it will remove it from the open menu of atleast notepad and paint, and I'm sure it does the same for some other windows based programs. But if you use any other program like office when you select open the libraries pane is just how it was at the beginning, how do we change this?

Hope this was clear enough

I want to get rid of these in the save menu too.

Found the addresses, you follow the same instructions as those tutorials but you use these addresses:

Homegroup is:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{B4FB3F98-C1EA-428d-A78A-D1F5659CBA93}\ShellFolder

Network is:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}\ShellFolder

Favorites is:
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{323CA680-C24D-4099-B94D-446DD2D7249E}\ShellFolder

These only work for 64 bit versions of windows though.

The 32 bit addresses are as follows:

Favorites:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{323CA680-C24D-4099-B94D-446DD2D7249E}\ShellFolder

Homegroup:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B4FB3F98-C1EA-428d-A78A-D1F5659CBA93}\ShellFolder

Network:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}\ShellFolder

I uploaded the registry files for the 32 bit, keep in mind you will still have to go in manually to add permission before you can use them.

NOTE: I also just noticed that by doing these edits it removes the according folder from the explorer libraries as well

Strange, the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}\ShellFolder type locations should affect the same type locations you posted above as well after restarting the computer. I'll have to do some further testing on this later tonight.

Well I'm confused, but hey its working, so I dont know what to tell you. I will run through it again later tonight just to check and make sure again.

Addition:

Question: Logging off then back on is just as good as restarting? Yes or no?

Cause I never did the original tutorial that you did on this computer(32 bit), I just went to the address I listed (for the 32 bit) cause I found that while hunting for it originally. So perhaps both methods work for 32 bit computers. Both your original tutorial and the new 32 bit address i included here. Just a thought. I'm going to test it out see what happens.

Finding:
Just found that the address I entered updated the address that is in the tutorial, so perhaps they are interlinked.

Finding:

CONFIRMED
When I change one entry it changes the other, even before logging off. So I guess for the tutorials I made, it is for 64 bit only, while anyone on 32 bit just does the tutorial you originally made.

I do find it interesting that the tutorial you made, if you follow that in 64 bit it will only remove it explorer, but for 32 bit it removes it in explorer and in open menus and save menus.

Ok, after some testing using the Network tutorial, I found that on my 64-bit system and on a 32-bit VM, it removed Network from all Windows Explorer and the smaller Open, Save As type windows. I just had to close and reopen the window afterwards to apply, but some may need to restart or log off and on instead to apply.

Normally any changes made in the HKCR registry section will make changes in all the others as well. I'm not sure why yet it would not work for you the same way. I have not seen any reports from anyone else, but would like to hear from them if they are seeing what you are as well to see what may be the issue.

I dont know why either, I even tried re enabling the ones that i changed back to their original setting and just doing the one in your tutorial and it didnt work, it took it out of explorer but not the save or open menus. It worked for programs like paint and notepads open and save menus though. But I wanted it to work for all.

Ok, it was Notepad that I used to test the Open type windows in. What were you using that it didn't work in?

EDIT:
In addition, confirmed that if I make a change in the HKCR or HKLM location, it changes it in the other as well. Really strange why you see a difference.

You can test it on the registry editor import menu, I also tested in word 2007. All i can confirm really is that the original tutorial you wrote would not get rid of those specific folders in the libraries pane in all open and save menus in windows 7 64 bit version, I never checked 32 bit version. I later checked and found that the original tutorial you wrote did remove the folders in the open and save menu's.

So to sum it up the tutorials I wrote should be for 64 bit only to finish removing the folders.
While the tutorials you wrote get rid of it period for 32 bit and half way for 64 bit (Atleast as far as i can tell)
