repair install and sfc.exe problems

so after having numerous problems relating to everything in my sytem i attempted to do a repair install. i got the following error...
The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

  [*]Windows needs to be restarted so necessary changes to system files can be made before continuing.

  [*]For these items, make the following changes:

• Uninstall these programs. Open Control Panel and search for "uninstall a program".

Fyi, i don't have this installed on my system.

So, as i posted a reply and was awaiting a response from the "repair instal" thread, i tried to run sfc.exe. After 33% completion it gave me an error saying that it could not finish.

Your help with this would be greatly apreciated.

sfc /scannow might see a remnant of WindowsBlinds if you had it installed some time ago.

Is repair install the only available to you option? I personally would prefer to reformat and clean install.

i built this system from scratch, it has only ever seen windows 7 64nit since inception. my only concerns with reformat and clean install would be of losing everything. is there a link in here somewhere that will tell me how to back up all of my important stuff to my backup drive and put it back in after fresh install?

It is up to you to do more attempts to repair your system or reformat it instead. To backup your private data you can use Backup and Restore:

If backup and restore were functioning properly we probably wouldn't be here. Please, any suggestions to help me clear the errors so I can repair.
