Restore point could not be created because of error 0x80042308

This all started when I uninstalled all the AMD drivers on my system and then restarted the computer to reinstall updated drivers (chipset and video). When I restarted it said it found problems with my harddrive and did a system restore. When that was done everything was back to the way it was before...like I had never uninstalled anything. At this point everything seemed to be running very well so I thought I should create a system restore point and maybe try again.

No dice, it gave me the error "The restore point could not be created for the following reason: The specified object could not be found. (0x80042308) Please try again."

At this point I searched the net for a fix and I tried disk check and it did find issues and fixed them. I ran sfc /scannow and it found corrupt files, but was unable to fix some of them...they seem to have something to do with printer drivers. I manually turned on VSS and tried making a restore point and that did not work. I cannot make a backup with Windows 7 backup or a 3rd party image program I installed after this happened. Tried going into Safe Mode to make a restore point, but system restore is not even there...the tab is gone...very strange. Before you say it could be a virus, I scanned for that...it found nothing. I have not tried a Malware program yet, but this started when uninstalling chipset and video drivers. Not to say it could not be Malware, I just feel it is corrupt files and nothing more.

I am at a loss what to try next, maybe it is time to do a system repair? Everything else seems to be working fine. Will a system repair fix this and not screw up the rest of the system?

Using Win7 Home, Raid 0 Harddrives, System Restore is setup correctly with plenty of room and 8 GB ram
