I reformatted my comp a week ago 'cause I was having issues with it. I'm running windows 7 ultimate. I thought nothing of it until recently when I started losing internet connection a lot but, I forgot to install my router (figured win 7 would pick it up automatically). When I tried to install it I was not able to. I keep getting errors of it not plugged in ( it is) or can't be found. The router is a D-Link ebr 2310. If someone can I would appreciate the help in fixing this problem. Thank you

Hi minigamer,

Are you the only one that's not connected or having issue? Everybody else in your home can access the D-Link router?

If this is the case, there might be something wrong with your network adapter. Did you install all required Drivers for your computer after you have formatted and reinstall your O/S? Were you trying to wire connect it to the router's LAN Port? You might want to use a different network cable (patch/straight).

Please post an update.

Hmm You shouldnt ever have to "install" per say, Have you updated the latest Firmware for your router?

As i do not know what revision yours is. You can start here just find your revision and click the corresponding link then go to firmware. The support page will also have instructions on updating firmware.

I tried doing everything but, my router isn't showing up. not on any of my machines. I can't even access the router page and the firmware wont install because it dosen't detect the router.I can get online but, the router isn't seen at all.

Thanks for posting back the ipconfig info, everything looks good.
Can you ping the router? open a command prompt and type ping 192.168.0.1 press enter, please post the results here.

Do you have any Security Software intalled - Norton, McAfee, AVG or similar?

Also, restart your computer, tap F8 and select Safe Mode with Networking, in here see if you can connect to the Internet.

Have you tried a different Network Cable?

SO your unable to open up your web browser and navigate to 192.168.0.1 ?

If you cannot lets try to reset the router doing a hard reset follwing steps bellow

steps:
1. Leave the device powered on, do not disconnect the power
2. Press the reset button and hold for 45 sec. (use a paper-clip)
3. Unplug the power Cable (still holding the reset button)
4. Wait 45 Seconds then plug in the power cable (still holding the reset button)
3. Keep the button pressed about 45 seconds
4. Release the button
The EBR-2310 will then automatically reboot itself

then open up web browser and type in 192.168.0.1 and hit enter
Default username is admin with no password

Ok how do you have your router connected to your computer?

*note* You cant access the configuration page wirelessly, it must be connected via Ethernet cables. And you said your router does not power on?

Walk me through how you have everything connected up, maybe even take a photo so that we can better assist you.

everything is wired. It's a wired router. I have the modem wired to the router which is wired to the computers. I can turn the router on but when trying to install the router software it says my router isn't getting power. I was going to try to bridge my modem (hoping that was the problem) but, I can't get into the modem settings either. I think both the router and the modem have the same address and that is why I can't configure either of them.

Disconnect your Modem and just connect your router directly to one of your computers. See if u can then access the router page, Modems dont have a lan address they only carry your Actual IP address from your ISP. Shouldn't be conflicting.

Just disconnect the modem from the router and try to install the software then.

Post Back With results. This is rather mind boggling. something isnt right.
