Seagate external

Here is my old 1tb seagate external. I just saved the first sector.

First pic shows the .bin file which is the LBA 0 sector saved.

Second picture shows what the partition table looks like.

Third pic shows LBA 0 successfully backed up.

I made a folder and stored it on the c drive for now, which contains the 1tb saved partition. I will move it onto the 3tb external.

Another question come to mind.

Everytime something is saved to a drive, is it needed to save the partition after that from time to time? Or is saving it once enough? Apart from when " if you change the partition structure like adding partitions, deleting, merging, extending etc".

And ya, good you posted the picture. Save LBA 63 too. My memory is letting me down

Whenever you want to save or resave after making changes in the partition structure of the drive, look at the partition table as shown in the dropdown in Bootice and save all the sectors shown - except the unassigned.

In the case of GPT drives remember you have to additionally save the last sector n and n-4. Do save in seperate folders identifying the drive to which it relates.

I have to repeat whenever you make changes to the Partition structure like adding,deleting, merging,extending etc., with any partitioning/formatting software be it Partition Wizard, AOMEI Partition Assistant, Windows Disk management,Gparted etc., you have run bootice and save all sectors shown in the dropdown arrow afresh and discard all old saved sectors.

This fresh set is required only if you make changes to the partition structure as aforesaid and not otherwise. Not with everyday usage of saving, deleting.... the normal data files.
