I asked first. You didn't answer.

Probably you haven't figured that one out yet yourself.

I'll give you a few days to ponder on it.

And yes, negative comments for the soul purpose of being negative bother me.
Actually I have figured it out. There is no need to ponder it.
That being said, I'm not going to share the reason with you.

hmm, I seem to have underestimated you.

Then maybe you have also figured out my question was rhetorical.

lmao...that is funny that members posted news from him...remember folks he is extrmeley biased about XP and haas been known to post bogus articles...just check the forums on his supposed showstopper bug that would prevent 7 from being released...a chkdsk error that really doesn't exist

Was he the source of the "show-stopper" nature of that non-bug?

I will note the name for future reference.

7!! even if you take away the eye candy your still left with a GOOD,PRE-RELEASE user friendly OS.. ok i've had 1/2 BSOD's(in of 1 of the 4 builds i've tried), a couple of compatibility issues (mainly with older games), the biggest problem i've had with programs is they're not compatible with aero so it switches to basic while the programs running..(such a hardship). 7 is by no means perfect tho.. It like all officially unreleased software will have its teething problems.. take Acronis true image for example..theres meant to be a problem restoring the win7 image(dunno for sure yet) but its already been stated this will be patched on release of 7, lack of drivers(not that i've had any problems using Xp/Vista's) and so on but these things WILL improve after release day..

Now to XP.. despite being released in october 2001 it is still a good OS(dated but good), and was certainly a milestone for Microsoft.. the quality of xp can be measured by the fact it took MS 6 years to release the next notable OS in Vista (if you can call vista that) in 2007, compared to their previous average of every 2/3 years prior to the release of XP, so well worthy of the praise its been given.. and id be lying if i said i dont still have a disk image backed up.

with all that i've said i still feel that 7 is going to be the next milestone 4 microsoft after XP, with Vista no-more than a stepping stone to 7, just as ME was between 98 and XP..

Was he the source of the "show-stopper" nature of that non-bug?
Actually, no. In the course of researching this anomaly, I found the same language dating back to early June. I tried to find the links just now just to substantiate, but I bailed - too many new references to weed through.

He did post his question, however, after he was in possession of research that indicated it was not a "bug" per se, and certainly not a show-stopper.

With this single incident, I now understand why this forum holds him in such low retard (typo - regard). No additional evidence required. If it smells like sh*t, don't step in it.

Hey, don't be so hasty! You never know, it COULD be shinola. OTOH, why would I want to step on shinola anyway? Oh, well, never mind ...

So Xp it's better to use on quad core pc's?

Well you'd have to define 'better' first. If you define 'better' as being fast no amount of tweaking is going to let 7 run as fast as xp.

But if you define 'better' as Zidane does, better being overall better then ofcourse xp can't beat 7.

7 has way more capabilities and a crappier complicated gui so Zidane is right as well.

As i said earlier: reality is in the eye of the beholder

This whole thread is ridiculous. If I was running LCARS from Star Trek in the 24th century, some would probably say that Windows 7 was better.

Some just have to stick to archaic software with archaic reasoning. There's no reasoning with them, they'll pick one subject, better performance on old outdated hardware and fight to the death that it's better just because of that.

IMO, overall, in every category that matters, not only perfomance, Win 7 is better than XP.

If you want to stick with an ugly, more insecure, less user friendly OS, because it's runs better on your old crappy hardware, go right ahead.

LCARS is so '90s.

;)

My limited defense of XP notwithstanding, I use Windows 7 for a reason. And when EdgeStream updates their client (or ABS-CBN standardizes their codecs), I will have only two reasons to maintain XP on two different platforms.

One because it works on my old crappy hardware as a single purpose machine, the other because it generates support-based revenue (on modern not crappy hardware).

The thread is ridiculous.

Initially i've created this thread to see what others would try with a pc like mine!
