I have a win7 ultimate machine that shows file iassdo.dll.mui is corrupt when SFC /scannow is run.
The file exists in 4 different locations on the machine, but the CBS.log shows 8 errors/links to the same location, "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\en-US\".

I have read several other posts on this exact issue, but no solution. Most or all are Ultimate installs. The machine isn't having any problems, but I'd like to fix this if it is a real problem. Some are claiming that a clean install does not even fix the problem, so I wonder if MS produced a bunch of bad install media. Running SURT (as some recommended) does NOT fix it.

Hi Tns,
Thats a tricky little devil, you repair 1 and get another, (pretty Peacock), so on and so forth, a great big loop.
Your best bet is a repair install, no loss of data

Has anyone figured out if this file corruption is an actual problem, and what causes it? The full page of warnings on doing the repair install make me wary of ever trying this. I do have 7pro x64 install media, and although it is not specifically for Ultimate, I have browsed the folders and it seems to include specific versions of iassdo.dll.mui for every version of win7 including Ultimate. It would seem to be a safer bet to copy those versions of the file from the install media, and copy them over their possibly corrupt versions (4 locations) on my machine. I'd do this from a linux boot disk that can R/W NTFS, to keep win7 out of the way. If the hashes/repository used by SFC are stored somewhere else entirely, this may not work. Surely others have tried this. Is there any idea if this will work?

How old is your install, it may be time for a new one.
